I expect the basics will be there - fur, leather, chain, iron, steel, elven, dwarven, orcish, ebony, glass and daedric. The only one from Oblvion I'd be sort of unsure of is mithril, and that only because it's just sort of an upgraded chain, and I could see them replacing it with a Nordic variation on upgraded chain. I would expect a few variations on fur and leather - hopefully something akin to Bloodmoon, in which the high end fur armors were actually quite nice, though relatively hard to get. We might see a return of the Nordic mail from Bloodmoon, or at least something quite similar. I'd love to see some Morrowind throwbacks - some of the more general ones like Adamantium and Dreugh and certainly Dragonscale, and the deliberately Nordic ones - especially Trollbone. I'll honestly be disappointed if there isn't at least one piece of Trollbone armor in the game. Beyond that, I'd love to see as many other options as possible, even if they weren't all that useful - the Skyrim equivalent of all the stuff like silver and newtscale and boiled leather and so on. More variety is better.

not too sure about the Magic part, but the rest sounds pretty good. you got Obsidian out of fable, didnt you?

Ebony is Tamriel's/Nirn's Obsidian. They're both kind of a Volcanic rock/glass.
*Someone beat me.

I'm hoping Dragonbone/Trollbone/Ringmail make a return.

So far, I really like that Elven Armor though. That'll be hard to top. I wonder if it's Heavy Or light.

I'm hoping for more culturally distinct variants of basic armors too. I'd imagine the Orcish techniques are much different than Imperial techniques in armorcraft/weaponsmithing. You saw quite a bit of it in Oblivion. There would be Leather, Netch Leather, Nordic Leather and Imperial leathers. Again these things just help sell the living world, even if it's a relative few, as in Morrowind.

Perhaps one thing to keep in mind with respect to the possibility of Morrowind armour styles returning, is that there is a Dunmer society in Skyrim. It would be somewhat surprising if the Dunmer did not bring some of their native armour along with them.

Of course, the materials that the Dunmer made their armour from may not exist in Skyrim. So perhaps there might be a few rare pieces of Dreugh, Chitin, Netch, Bonemold, etc. armour. Perhaps with sixy enchantments.

I'd like to see some more normal clothing in the game. You know... Instead of just velvet outfit. I also hope that you can make your own armor... Like if you kill a dragon you can go to a blacksmiths shop and create new armors with the customization of light, medium, and heavy choices. And different dragons give you different types of armor as far as shape and color. The last thing I'd like to see is more revealing armor for the female characters.

Fur? Leather? NO!

I would love to see more unique armour types. I love how Morrowind handled it.

There was no leather. Instead there was Netch Leather and Dark Brotherhood. There was Chitin, Bonemold, Indoril, etc.

It would be great to see some old ones, alongside "Dragonbone" "Dragonhide" "Mammoth fur" etc. I don't see why we have to be to standard and boring.

As for new armor (that is what this thread is about, isn't it?) I want to see some baby seal fur armor.

I would stay away from that armor. it gives you a 100% vulnerability to clubs.

I, personally, would love to see a couple appearance variations of each armor.

dont get me wrong, Daedric was one of my fav parts of the game, but with the whole rugged landscape of Skyrim, it doesnt seem to fit with the environment, which is one of the things that Bethesda said they would try to do.

Exactly how would it not fit the landscape? The daedra and their armor set change with each new game, it's simply a matter of redesign while still keeping the core ideas intact. The armor is red, jagged and terrifying, but that's a rather vague description with lots of possibilities for variety. Even in morrowind there were three unique daedric helmet designs.

Daedras are similar, a Frost Atronach looks vastly different from one game to another. Spider Daedra don't even exist in Morrowind, afaik, and in Skyrim there could similarly be new daedric types introduced e.g. Snow Daedra or even a return of winged Seducers or fire and frost daedras (not to be confused with atronachs).

There's also the Fire, Frost and Storm Monarchs (epic atronachs), creatures that to my knowledge hasn't even featured yet in any game, they are only found in lore.

Well, I think that Todd said there was more armor types in skyrim than Oblivion. I think that most(if not all) will come back, and add some new ones.

since there are dragons, theres gotta be some dragon armour. aslo, prob some stuff like "nordish" or something

Ah you beat me to it...yes dragon skin/bone/scale armor would be my guess, my assumption would be bone though, as the rest of the body burns away at death

I wonder if Bear, Wolof and Ice will be returning, they actually looked pretty cool in Bloodmoon.

I'm pretty sure Daedric armor isn't in. In Oblivion, we closed shut the jaws of Oblivion. No daedra is never ever coming back to Tamriel. Martin says that the gates to Oblivion are sealed for ever. :)

So then any suits of daedric armor that were already round about Tamriel magically disappeared? Not to mention the summoning of Daedra was still possible even after the gates were sealed. That just meant that the Daedra Lords couldn't force their way to Tamriel anymore.

Exactly, and don't forget about how Morrowind had Daedric Armor, there where no "Jaws of Oblivion" in Morrowind thats for sure. If It is in I hope it is rare like in Morrowind. It actually makes sense for it to be common in Oblivion what with all these gate opening and Daedra pouring forth.
