No Athletics & No Acrobatics - Poll Edition -

They can be under a general perk tree. While perks have skill requirements, that does not mean every perk has a skill requirement. So Jump, carry more, sprint faster can all be under a general tree or a everyman perk list.

This is actually an extremely important question, not just in regards to acrobatics and athletics. Imagine how many "general" perks that can be added by modders if they are NOT necessarily forced to be tied to a skill. Assuming for example that mounts are in the game, there could be a variety of riding perks in the general category, that otherwise have no logical place.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise that the game was actually becoming LESS mainstream and simplified by removing all these things. My bad.

It's not like they had a good reason to remove those skills, they totally did it to be more mainstream!

Only hardcoe players would want to level up by jumping and running around everywhere!

Weird that somebody that put the word "immersion" in their signature 28 times wouldn't understand that for alot of people it can be fun to work at being fast or able to perform crazy vertical jumps. Removing that and adding a sprint function akin to COD doesn't quite do it for me.

My theory, based on what I have heard from Todd Howard, but only loosly. I'm inferring and guessing a lot here:

Your carry weight (encumberance), running/walking speed, jump height/distance, etc. will be based upon your health, and the number/type of perks you get.
Example: a warrior with high health, high skills in single handed weapons, light armor, and other related things and associated perks, will run quickly and jump high.
Example: a warrior with high health, high skill in single and/or two handed weapons, heavy armor and related things and associated perks will run at a good clip and be able to carry a LOT.
Example: a magic user, with lower health and very little in the way of melee skills will travel more slowly, have limited jumping ability and not be able to carry much.
Example: a thief with middling health, high skill in single-handed weapons, light armor, and thief related perks will run very fast, jump very high, not not be able to carry much.

Just my theory. Based on his saying that everything would translate.

You missed the point... totally.

First on the sig, I won't explain that...

Second, we'll still be able to jump higher, run faster, but by perks this time.

Link to that information or is that just speculation? I'm guessing speculation.

Oh yeah! Just saw a shiny new interview with Todd Howard on IGN where he does, in fact, say races will have distinct differences in their abilities and powers. Booya! :celebration:

I think they shouldn't have gotten rid of attributes :|
That was the 2nd most fun part of the game for me, all the math and spreadsheeting for optimal builds.

That's funny that was like..the 2nd most un-fun part of the game for me. I like attributes but I hated the spread-sheet'y feel of everything in OB.
