Guild Factions in Skyrim

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:27 am

Throughout Morrowind and Oblivion, the guild factions have been easily the same. And i don't know about you, but I think, Since Skyrim is 200 Years later from Oblivion and even more from Morrowind, That they should have more advanced Guild Factions. Like, The Dark Brotherhood for instance. Just having some 'Unseen forces' noticing you kill some random will get you into the guild. I think they should make it more interesting by sending out someone to talk to you and asking for 'A little Help' But only after you earn a certain amount of Infamy.
The same with 'Fame' Once you earn a certain amount of Fame, then someone should come and invite you into a guild (exact opposite of the Dark Brotherhood.) But the joining quests should also be harder. So if you pass them, it shows that your Character is worthy to be a member.

Know what i mean? lol

What type of guild changes/ new guilds would you like to see in Skyrim???

Discuss.....

I prefer calling them "Guilds" instead of "Factions".

A mages guild that I can rise to lead. . . and Daedric cults a plenty. SERIOUS Daedric cults, with hidden lairs and eveything, and all of them cavorting with Daedra.

I don't think it should be harder to join the official factions, like FG(if it is in), but a little harder initiation for the illegal does make sense.
I hope there is a knightly order with a major storyline this time though. + political factions of course.

Ooh, maybe joinable daedric cults! Adds even more Role Playing value if you can choose your char's frickin religion!

The only NEW guilds I want are a Vampire Clan and maybe some Daedric Cult stuff.. The guilds I want to improve drastically (being compared to oblivion) are the Fighters Guild (terrible questline) and whatever the new mages guild is called since the old one burned (as it should have).

The questline in the Mages guild didnt feel Arcane enough, in fact it felt 99% like a fighters guild quest (GO KILL THOSE DIRY NECROMANCERS HUMPH HUMPH). Instead of a interesting MAGICAL experience I got to go raid dungeons. Cool...not like I wasn't doing that already. Why not an epic storyline like in the mod Lost Spires? Why no metaphysical mumbojumbo that I have to fix with magic?

The Fighters Guild suffered a similar ailment. Most of the quests were terrible, however towards the end the Hist Tree questline got somewhat interesting, but it was still REALLY lame compared to what I expected. Why no dungeon raids with 2 other guild members? Why wasn't half the mages guild kill necromancers quests given to the Fighters Guild instead?

Yeah the normal guilds like FG and the Mages Guild should be normal joining. But the so called secret guilds should be harder to achieve. Since they are so secret. lol Like the Dark Brotherhood and the TG.

Yeah i agree. I would like a mages guild i can rise up and eventually be in control of. ie: Inviting game-built characters to join the guild,
A full on Vampire, or Necromancy guild would be nice. Individual spells and full quest line included of course.

I also wish the guilds would have favored skills that you had to have a proper level in to advance again like in Morrowind (sorry if this was in the other games too, I only played Morrowind and Oblivion).

That would be nice. Do you mean like how you need skills in 'The Sims' to get a career promotion?? Sorry if you don't play sims. lol

Don't play The Sims but it was similar to what you described. You had to meet the skill requirement as well as two attribute requirements to get promoted in the guild.

I do not prefer that, a guild is so much more. Though often, it is so much less.

Ohk kool. That would be good to have. It would make the game last longer too if you didn't have the requirements when you needed them.

Yep, your boss would say something like "You need to go out and get more experience before you can be promoted" or something like that. Obviously, in guilds that matched your skills, you could get promoted at a decent rate but for others it was slow going.

I hope Skyrim is like that. It's very life like. And everywhere and everyone is saying that it's going to be mega life-like. ie: You are a world famous Artist (Art Guild) and want to become the Head chef of the Cooking Guild. You need to level up your cooking skills.

Am i on the right track here??

Yep, it wouldn't really make sense that you were head of the fighters guild and your second in command could kick your ass!

Yeah i get it now. lol. It would be really annoying if they made it so you could join any guild and so on all at once without not working your way up.

Maybe a cult for each daedric prince and a Volkihar (ice vampires) clan.

One of my gripes with Oblivion is that the vamps had no real clans! I mean, sure they had the occasional cave or Ayleid ruin but not one over-arching ruling group! One of my favorite things about Morrowind was the variety in the vamp clans.

Well the reason they didn't have a clan in Oblivion is because they didn't need one, they melded into society perfectly, no need to have a vampire clan really. The cyrodiilic vampires were the only type left in Cyrodiil because they were so successful after their pact with Clavicus Vile that gave them the ability to walk around in the day.

True. Well crap, I completley forgot that Hassildor pretty much acts like an Ancient, especially in that he tries to keep vampire groups near his town in check.
