Almost identical, even. Especially in his second pic. :o

I know, I almost did a double take when looking at the second pic.

Both look to be based on (but not identical to) ancient cuneiform script - so I would say that they both draw from the same influences rather than one copying the other.

Like my user name is from the Celtic goddess, and the name used in the Zelda games is taken from the Celtic goddess, I however have never played Zelda and didn't even know that the name was used in those games (although people keep asking me if I got it from Zelda - no I didn't, we were just both inspired by the same source!)

Don't get so excited. They all look just like a combination of Chinese, Egyptian, and Mayan writings.

Similiar

http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/featured/bethesda/elderscrolls/elderscrollsv/crypto-610.jpg

Not identical though. I think more likely that the both of these writings are based on the same concept. A creature without thumbs creates a language how does it write it? With claw marks that's how.

Take a look at the other two and let me know what you think. I've done side by side and see some of the same ones. You're right, some are just very similar, but some are spot on, IMHO.

Well, dovahzaan isn't exactly rocket science. It's 1-3 dragon claws scratching lines in various directions. Almost runic in nature. Nothing advanced, even in the least, so I'm pretty sure that Bethesda made it up themselves and didn't steal it from anywhere.

One of the best, IMO. Very challenging. Decided to dust it off, while waiting for Skyrim. If you haven't played it and enjoy a good challenge, I would highly recommend it.

I agree 100%. It's one of the best games i've ever played. I don't know if today's gamers could handle the challenge though. It can get difficult.

Ah Wizardry 8. It's been ages since I played last and I don't even know what happened to my copy of it. I don't even remember this Rapax castle but hey. The game was pretty good once you could get your party to stop dying all the time at the beginning :P

Both devs may have pulled from the same reference? I find it had to believe that Bethesda would rip off of someone else.. lol

Of course Bethesda wouldn't use other people's ideas, that's just inconcievable. After all, elves, orcs, dragons, goblins, werewolves, undead, and all those things are all original creations of Bethesda, no one else has ever done them before.

But that's an interesting find, however, it may not be that Bethesda intentionally drew from Wizardry, looking at the image of the symbols from Wizardry and the dragon writing in Skyrim, I can't really make out any that seem to be identicle, very similar, yes, but not quite identical, and that could be a result of both drawing from the same sources, and to be perfectly fair, neither of the scripts are really extremely complex, so it could be very easy for similarities to occur between them, even if not intentionally. Now, it's possible that Bethesda could have drawn from Wizardry, yes, as my sarcastic sentence earlier in this post indicates, Bethesda has borrowed ideas from other sources before, and maybe they're doing that here too, I'm just pointing out that just because there's similarities doesn't make them intentional.

Yeah, they're not that similar...

The dragon one has got marks with multiple lengths it also has dots. The rapax ones only straight lines around the same length.

man i love wizardry 8... good old good old :) if you try to rush trhough a game like this you have 0% chance of successfully finishing it. my last playthrough in it i went to some place i shouldn't have gone to too soon and got stuck and died. i was trying to make my way to the umpani camp, and i guess i took the longer route by accident. i'll never forget the nessie easter egg in my first playthrough :D man all of my party members died save for my ranger who somehow survived and finished it off with 10hp (and he was my least useful member)

Yes

It is translated into this:

Dragonborn Dragonborn
By His Honor Is Sworn
To Keep Evil Forever At Bay
And The Fiercest Foes Rout When They Hear Triumph’s Shout
Dragonborn For Your Blessing We Pray

And The Scrolls Have Fortold
Of Black Wings In The Cold
That When Brothers Wage War Come Unfurled
Alduin Bane Of King
Ancient Shadow Unbound
With A Hunger To Swallow The World.

Nah, I meant of the stuff on the wall in these pics, if they had corresponding figures on the cover.
