backpacks?

I think it would be good if you could have a back pack in skyrim that will add say and extra 100 to the amount of wait you can carry, they could also be diffrent sizes so more expensive, bigger bags hold more, but cheaper smaller ones hold less. i think this would be good as when im edventuring i always run out of space for things i want, and i have to lose one other good thing for the new good item, a back pack i could pull out to carry some extra stuff would be good. And then i can take it off when i have cleared enough space in my inventory after my quest or whatever im doing. back packs could be visible or invisible, in the game play trailer, when the hooded figure is walking down a streed he has a little bag on his hip, although it is probably completly decorational, being able to but back packs or some kind of bag would be good for when looting, the bags would probably have to be expensive, like 5000 coins or something, but i think they would improve gameplay.

and yes i know it is like dragon age, and no im not trying to turn elder scrolls into dragon age.

Edit: should make it clear that you can only have one backpack, it would work like the pouches in assassins creed 2 and brotherhood, and it would slightly increase the amount of wieght you could carry, and i dont care if its not that realistic, its a game not real life. there are not dragons and trolls in real life, but i dont hear you complain about that.

I like the idea of backpacks, they should be visable and have no effect on your stats though, they shouldnt add more strength etc because that just doesnt make sense.

Another thing i would like is packrats etc like we had in the morrowind expansion

instead of strength, how about stamina? it seems more logical to me that way.

a set requirement of stamina that allows you to use bigger backpacks (not multiple backpacks, just substituting one for the other) that can be bought in stores.

I'd prefer one backpack you could upgrade throughout the game. Having multiple backpacks doesn't make sense, if you don't believe me go put on two backpacks and see how it works.

I think the game that did backpacks the best was Ultima 7. You could have the default backpack and then wield a backpack in each hand if you so chose. Oh Shamino, wielding a backpack and a sword throughout the entire game.

The backpack(s) shouldn't be visible though. Would look terrible and only demand a bunch of jokes.

Only time will tell if it will be similar to Oblivion, but I always enchanted 2 rings, an amulet and a hood to fortify Strength for those inevitable times I would become over encumbered. But a backpack definitely adds a little realism to the game. I used them in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.

i would definitely prefer a backpack rather than an imaginary bag you always carry around and i think its a good idea that you can buy new backpacks from stores. However it may also be an option to have something in the settings menu to allow the player to turn on/off the backpack if you would rather play without it.

no just strengh affecting what i can carry

How about a "no just backpack affecting what I can carry option"? Unless you are roleplaying a weak or malnourished character or something any character is going to be able to carry a backpack's worth of weight. Why tie it Strength (this is of course ignoring the fact that attributes have been removed)?

I do like the idea of a visible backpack, probably end up being a mod though. Doubt this will be vanilla.

I like the idea of having a visible backpack but the animations for carrying one needs to look like you are wearing one. The backpacks in Fallout 3 looked really stupid when you were moving.

I don't think they should be anything more than cosmetic though. Having a ton of gear in my inventory, but looking like I wasn't carrying anything took away from the... dare I say it... immersion.

If I'm going to carry a crap ton of gear a backpack will do wonders toward believability.

It doesn't take away from "immersion". It has nothing to do with immersion. It would just add to realism.

With these kinds of games this is always going to happen. Either you limit the amount you can carry to items that you have equipped, or you carry more but pull these items out of hammerspace.

Personally I wouldn't use it, not if they had the feather spell to increase to amount you can carry.

Umm, am I missing something? Why would a backpack increase encumbrance in Skyrim? Its based on weight, not quantity of items like dragon age or ME1.... Soooo how would having a backpack make you stronger?
