Missing File for FCOM installation?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:08 am

Hey everyone,

I'm currently attempting to install FCOM and I am following the directions that are posted in the locked FCOM thread a few pages in. I am up to the point of installing Fran's, and at this point the FCOM directions tell me that I should have a select few plugins from Fran's in my Data folder. I have all of them except for Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On.esm, and I've tried to search for the problem online and try to figure it out on my own but I can't seem to find why it isn't there. I used the links provided on the FCOM page for the downloads, and followed the installation instructions. Any ideas as to why this file isn't in my data folder at this point?

Thank you!

There's two Frans files in the link given on the FCOM page.
You've downloaded and installed both as per the instructions?

I believe so, the first Fran file (the actual mod) I followed exactly and have every plugin that the FCOM directions say I should have at that point. Then when I downloaded the other file (the Fran add-on) I disable the creature part of it like the link shows on the FCOM page, click "yes" on the next section about the BSA, and then click install, but the file doesn't show up in my data folder or in Bash =/.

Edit: just to clarify, I have these files:

FraNewItems.bsa
Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm
Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses.esp
Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Enemies.esp
Francesco's Optional Chance of More Enemies.esp
Francesco's Optional Leveled Gaurds.esp

Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On is http://i30.tinypic.com/2nhib7b.png you have when running Fran's exe-installer, so just rerun it if you missed checking it.

Just so I don't have to start another thread, I am now looking over the OOO installation section and there is a choice between the installer and the OMOD, which is the better choice? Is the OMOD difficult to install? (I only vaguely remember OMODs from when I modded my OB a few years back).

Also, I read the OOO help guide, but just to clarify, I need to install OOO 1.32, then upgrade it to 1.33, then install the 1.34 beta patch?

Thank you again for all the help and sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to get this right the first time since I've botched some modding in the past ;)

What is wrong with this forum today?
I'm unable to link you but you'll find the current FCOM Homepage normally on the first couple of pages here. All requirements for FCOM and links are supplied to the neccessary files.
As future versions of all of the FCOM main mods will be in BSA format it's strongly advised to install with BAIN (Wrye Bash function) or OMOD so you can easily update.

Alright thanks guys, I'll read up on how to install the OMODs and use them, thanks for the links!

edit: Actually if you guys just wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction, I have read the FCOM page and the OOO quick start guide but I am unsure as to which files I need to get. The FCOM page links to there : http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953 , which of those files is the one(s) that I need? Am I getting the Complete version or the "Upgrade" version? It seems like I need the complete version but the link is broken on the OOO home page so that's leading to my confusion =/

Another quick question, when installing the OOO 1.34 Beta 5 patch, should I try to make the patch an OMOD also and install it via OBMM like I did for the actual mod, or should I just open up the archive and manually add the files to my data folder?

Thanks!

Install it via OBMM or BAIN. The next OOO release will be in bsa format, which means you'll need to remove previously installed resources before updating, which is a hassle with manual installs.

Okay thank you, I'm not familiar with BAIN so I'll probably use OBMM, is it the same process as installing regular OOO via OBMM?
