[RELz] Autumn Trees

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:23 am

I decreased the frequency of your default versions a bit. [snip]
Interesting. I never really tried it out with more that a couple of any given boxes in one go (though my test grid has a box for each tree type): my major issues were trying to get them to work and then trying to "shape" and "size" the particle spawn volume to match the foliage volume for each tree type.

I just tried with your "high" setting in-game and it looked very good indeed. What I'll probably do is when I make the update with the additional trees/shrubs supported I'll include some lower settings than I currently provide as well. I suspect that for those trees that are away from other autumnal trees, somewhat higher settings will be more aesthetically pleasing, but for forests like NE of Chorrol, much lower settings will be better.

The particle effects are a modder's resource made by Vacuity so if you use them give credits to Vacuity and not me!

Ahem...I gave an endorsemant to both of you... hope, that`s okay...if not, I will sweep leaves tomorrow for one hour (low frequency of course).
Thanks, a really atmospheric idea. :)

I tried to take a couple screen shots of my character sitting under a tree while the leaves fell. Unfortunately you can't tell that there are falling leaves in the picture because it just looks like part of the background when frozen. Great mod though. I haven't noticed any performance hit at all so far.

Phitt, I've managed to make significant improvements to the way leaves from the taller trees fall: there's much less of a "jet-propelled" acceleration effect as they fall now. It's your choice if you want to update your meshes after I release v2 of Falling Leaves, but the visual improvement is noticeable, I think. Well, it is to me, but I have spent hours and hours staring at these things altogether, it might not be so obvious to other people.

Vac (isn't bumping this ever-so-pretty mod)

Hey, at least it's all leaves. Another two months and you'll be stepping in goopy, foul-smelling berries...

Heheh, I wonder if I should offer a "falling fruit" resource as well.

Hey, Phitt.

I decided to reinstall OB. I am now re-adding some of your cool mods, AL, FS , Roaming NPCs and Mad Mages Tower, for now.

Thanks.

Finally I was able to make some screenshots with falling leaves. That was a rather hard job, they are the "roadrunners" (WAC-terminology) of the Oblivion flora. :toughninja:

Nice shots!

I actually got a screenshot of a roadrunner once when it zipped into the frame as I was about to capture an image of something else, very lucky, heh.

Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean, palidoo

My next challenge: a combination of running roadrunners with falling leaves in one screenshot. :hubbahubba:

It's a roadrunner, from WAC. They're these harmless little things that run around the landscape at really high speeds. Well at least until they get https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_77B7B8HgEWM/TX0Yl2ix5zI/AAAAAAAAAl4/wWkXd_YzOvk/%231712%23%20Roadrunner%27s%20Lament%20II.jpg.

Looks cool! Does it blend well with Unique Landscapes?

From the ReadMe:

= Compatibility and Bugs =

This mod places the particle effects directly so any mod that heavily alters the northern areas of Cyrodiil (by adding and most importantly removing trees) may conflict. This is probably mostly true for Unique Landscapes - Lush Woodlands and Unique Landscapes - Arrius Creek. The mod will still work however, but some trees might not be affected and if the author removed any trees then falling leaves may come out of nowhere. You just have to try, I don't think it will look bad even with UL loaded.

Due to the way particle effects work the leaves have no normal map and thus are not affected by fog. This may look a bit strange during a thunderstorm or foggy weather.
