Is ~75 playtime normal for a LO this large/complex?

Seems kinda low, even by the standards of modded Oblivion, but I wanted to get consensus from others with a mod-heavy game. And yes I have employed the 4gb patch, but didn't notice any difference.

I reapplied the patch (downloaded from this location; http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php) to the Oblivion.exe, but to no avail. Actually, the last two tests I've run since posting, I crashed early after a mere 20-30 minutes :( I'm like 99% sure that my installation process on this play-through was by the book, so I'm hoping it's a mod conflict, as the prospect of doing a full reinstall is horrifying :yucky: Hopefully the standard of disabling mods 1 at a time will provide some insights. At least I know that 75 minutes isn't normal.

Isn't this out of date? The 1.4 version of Fuse Snail Racing only requires a patch if you use Unique Landscapes, and you don't.

I've never played an FCOM version, but I do use MMM. As I recall, if you're running OOO or Fran's, special MMM esps are required.

Have you BOSS'd your modlist?

You misunderstand, I get 75 minutes of playtime between crashes. Also check the list again, I have every single UL mods :P And with this many mods, BOSS is a requirement, so yes.

I run a similiar Load Order on my 32-bit desktop, and can get almost four hours of playtime. I use StreamSave and Streampurge, and Oblivion Stutter Remover. I can not take advantage of the LAA patch, so I try and make sure I have the most current versions of all of the mods I have installed, and that I follow the installation instructions on mods like FCOM/Unique Landscapes/Better Cities contained in the readme files and release threads, and I try to keep all of the needed patches current.
I quit using Autosaves because they could lead to a CTD when I transitioned between cells, and Quicksaves occasionally lost quest updates that lead to corrupt saves.
I also have a laptop with a 64 bit OS that needs the LAA patch to run the same load order. 214 active 299 installed.
EDIT my desktop uses Better Cities, my laptop uses OCR.

75 minutes between crashes, and with FCOM, as well as other mods: frankly, not that bad, from what I read in the experiences of others, who usually go 2-4 hours before crashing. Still, you're right, it can probably be improved. Might want to post your list up in the latest FCOM thread, for the gurus there to comment on.

Take a look at http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 if you're not using it. Experiment with the heap replacement feature. The Windows algorithm is the safest. You can try using the others, but if you start getting BSOD it's because of the algorithm you're using. ThreadHeap3 will constantly give me a BSOD when changing exterior cells on a FCOM install. The other ThreadHeaps happen less often, but still do it. FastMM4 is inconsistent with the CTDs for me, and TBBMalloc will CTD for me instantly when trying to load or start a game. Note that the heap size only affects the ThreadHeap algorithms. The hash table replacement will give a decent improvement to the amount of time you can play the game, just don't use the dynamic resizing.

I use Windows Vista x64, Intel Core 2 QX6700, and 4GB of RAM. This is my OSR configuration:

You have to decide whether to use Streamline's or OSR's FPS management and not use both at the same time. In my opinion OSR is better because it manages FPS by managing the use of CPU cycles so that when it hits the maximum FPS you set it will free up more CPU cycles for other game processes. I use Streamline for just Streampurge and Streamsight.

Interesting information ArmeniusLOD. I do use OSR and SL. For SL, I only have Save and Purge enabled.

75 minutes seems good Mine would usually range from like 20 minutes to 3-4 hours if I'm lucky, and I had like 150+ esps on my old install

None of your mods really stand out as "problem childeren", so you should be pretty good.... Is a little weird seeing LAME, SI, and RBP without Integration though

The Core 2 QX6700 is actually a quad-core, so you will probably have to adjust iDefaultSpin in CriticalSections. Make sure you're using the latest version or else the configuration might either not work or break things. I also didn't include the Overrides section at the end of the file since nothing there is changed, so make sure you keep those.

Using the new OSR settings, I crashed at 30 minutes, though I think it was because of Steamave (sometimes it works, sometimes it tries and fails :shrug:) I'll adjust the iDefaultSpin setting a bit closer to the original value and see what happens. For these tests, I'm not doing any dungeons or quests. Just running loops around the map exploring, with minimal fighting. I'm also reaching the end of the fluff mods I can deactivate; stuff I enjoy but don't really need on this character, like the 2 Imperial/Cyrodiil Vault mods. 3-4 hours of playtime would be amazing, but at this point I would settle for 2 if it means keeping all this awesome stuff :brokencomputer:

Streamsave never added any benefit in my experience, so I turned it off. On my setup I can play a FCOM install for 2-3 hours before a CTD. I've also cleaned all plugins and PyFFI'd all meshes needing it.

Like I said, you can experiment with the heap replacement stuff and find what works best for you. You may find turning it off is best, so get to it :tongue: .

Eh I don't use the ram patch and I get 1-2 hours, sometimes twice that and sometimes half that.
My LO is and my system isn't incredibly powerful either. I'm not sure what exactly I did this time around, but I am extremely happy thats things turned out this perfect ^_^ I hope yours is a simple conflict or somthing so it can be resolved quickly and painlessly. I use SL and OSR as well.

I have Pyffi'd everything I can, but haven't been brave enough to clean mods yet :( Now that I think about it though; during the Pyffi process, I might have accidentally used Pyffi on that one NightMother Statue mesh in the vanilla BSA. Is that enough to cause such early crashes? I'll try experimenting with the various Heap settings. Right now my biggest concern is that my character is too far into the game to be corrected. Like even if I did a perfect clean install, the save file will always crash early. Rebuilding the Patch now...

You need to update some of the mods in your Load Order, All Natural is at Version 1.3. Your FCOM setup has a few extra/missing esp's- example FCOM-Cobl, OOO 1.32-Cobl, and MMM Cobl. The MMM -Cobl version you want is 1.73, and the link to an updated version of Cobl is in the FCOM release thread(The update is to upgrade version 1.72 to 1.73 and has some newer plugins) You do not want to use FCOM-Cobl, and the OOO 1.32-Cobl is optional.
Do not use MMM Gems & Gem dust plugins with an FCOM build. I would add the Francesco's Optional Levelled Gaurds.esp to rest of the Francesco's esp's in your Load Order.
Use one of the FCOM Gaurd Unity Plugins, not both.
The MMM Diverse Waterlife needs to be updated to version 3.7b3p3f - The version you have causes NPC's to swim instead of walking along the docks in the Imperial Waterfront.
NRB is at version 4.6.
EDIT use the second link in my signature for getting the updated FCOM/Cobl/MMM plugins-The MMM diverse Waterlife plugin is avaialable from the MMM thread.

According to Core PC that does not belong in an FCOM install. I had to remove mine. The one below is the one you want.

As the First one would Require Gems and Gem Dust , that was just suggested to remove.

I Read a ton and listened to all these Guys. I am loading 233 Mods, FCOM and I rarely ever crash, I play 8-10 hour sessions. And I close Oblivion. Also took me 6 months to Build my install one mod at a time.

Wow, I knew I would have to do some updates, but I had no idea I was so far out of date :facepalm: Thanks for the info everyone :) While I doubt I can achieve 8-10 hour sessions on this character, hopefully getting all of these updates straightened out will put me at a more respectable 3-4 hours.
