System requirements for PC?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:24 am

I'm having a problem to decide if i should get this for PC or console, because i am totally getting this. But before i pre-order i wonder if there is anywhere where i can see the system requirements for this game on PC?
A reply from someone would be awesome :P

I'm quite interested in learning this, too. I own an Xbox 360 and a somewhat decent PC. PC, of course, would be my first choice, for obvious reasons.

There is no official info yet but given that it still runs on the same console hardware chances are the requirement will not be very far over Oblivion.

Fallout: New Vegas would be a better indicator.

I Agree with this check the requirements for Fallout: New Vegas it would likely be the same as Skyrim

Meh, even then, Skyrim definitely looks much better. But since games have pretty much come to a crawl in graphical jumps, you can make a computer that can play any game on highest setting for less than a $1000.

One difference I can see is that the recommended gear would include a DirectX 11 video card. It sounds like they're going to include at least some of those features, though it will also run on a DirectX 9 or 10 card.

There is already a discussion on this topic, and you can view it http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1182959-ppl-asking-about-what-kind-of-gpu-computer-i-will-need/.

Also if you have a dx11 card expect epic performance increase not just because of the pure power put of the basic dx11 usage in the game ( i forget the technical term of what they are doing)

There are no official requirements yet, but I think it would be safe to say that if you can run New Vegas, then Skyrim should not prove to be much of a problem. The game has to run on the 360 and PS3, which have 5 year old hardware, so it certainly won't require high-end hardware to run well.

Even assuming there are no significant differences in the PC version, it still takes significantly more graphical processing power to run a game at 1920x1080 or 1900x1200 with high res texture pack and hundreds of mods installed, compared to running the console version at maximum 1280x720 resolution.

Unless you plan to run the game at a lower resolution, I'd recommend to look into a video card that is at least as fast as either the 1GB NVIDIA GTX 460 (around $150, DX11 capable) or 1GB AMD 5770 ($110-120, DX11 capable).

I just hope Skyrim has native eyefinity or NV surround support.

I'm guessing an 8800GT for minimum (and whatever the ATI equivalent is) with 2 gbs of memory and a i5 dual core 2.5 Ghz+/Athlon II x2 2.5Ghz.

Recommended will probably be around a 450 GTX/HD5770 with 4 gigs of memory and an Intel quad (i5/i7) at 3.0Ghz+/Athlon II X4 at 3.0Ghz+.

These are safe bets based off of Witcher 2 sysrequirements and expected compliance with console standards.
