Production Time

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:35 am

Anyone else worried about the production time for Skyrim? 3 years if its true that they started after Fallout 3. Oblivion took four years. Skyrim seems to have a lot of cool, crazy [censored] too..

But obviously I'll be buying it anyway :celebration:

Does a team of around 100 people and 5+ years of experience with current hardware mean nothing to you?

Those two differences from Oblivions production are your answers you're looking for.

Their team has over doubled in size, IIRC, and it's been in planning since Oblivion was finished, even if full development didn't land until after FO3.
They're on record themselves (I think on the Oblivion anniversary BethBlog podcast) that they feel so much more confident and less frantic about this game's development than Oblivion's development.

they were working on it while they were working on fallout so it was about 5 years, and there was more people working on it than in Oblivion, I think like somewhere between 10 and 20

Main thing is they have 5+ years of experience with the hardware. Todd has said they can do so much more now then before.

They have been working on it for 5+ years. From 2006 to 2008 they were working with about a team of 60. Right after the launch of fallout, the Fallout team went straight to helping the other members for Skyrim. They have over 100 members working on it since early 2008. Dont worry, it was much more people, more time spent on it and much more experienced developers. trust em, it will be awesome

Lets not forget how unbelievably slow gaming companies are. Other than Mojang.

The average game is a 10 hour train ride.
