[BETA] Imperial City Suburbs

Lady Olivia...

Is there a chance you could add bridges and roads to connect to the other sides of the lake...ala ROADS AND BRIDGES? Because I really like that mod, and would feel kind of bummed out when I start using ICS and find I have to swim across the lake again!

Wow, you're considering making Immersive Interiors for your suburbs? That... is dedication. I mean, even just considering the possibility shows that you are really invested in making your mod fantastic, since that extra work is not necessary for completing the mod in good form.

richardrocket, if you look through past posts you will see that Lady Olivia and Arthmoor believe that ICS is compatible with Roads and Bridges. The two mods alter non-overlapping areas.

Personally, I feel no particular eagerness to see extra bridges on the Imperial Isle. I mean, I won't object at all if they're added as a part of a worthy mod such as ICS, which does a lot to improve the surroundings of the IC and make it more integrated with its environment. Simply taken by themselves, though, I don't find bridges very attractive. The Imperial City is meant to be a quasi-fortified, quasi-medieval city, and limited access to the Isle is really the strongest defense the city has. Big, stone walls surround the city - but no serious defenses around the wooden doors, alas. Which is to say: Lady Olivia, do your thing and don't feel pressured. Your readership is by no means united on the subject of bridges. I trust that you will put bridges where bridges belong. :)

Beautiful screenshots and good work! Thanks for your contribution to the modosphere.

Thank you for kind words, Asterai, and welcome!

Making my interiors "immersive" is indeed something I've set my mind on, but for the moment it's on a back burner, many more urgent tasks at hand.

As for adding more bridges, or making ICS compatible with More Roads and Bridges, your reply to richardrocket is on the spot. My reasoning goes exactly the same way. Two things I want to add, though:

First, while the current version of ICS is compatible with MRB (sorry for all the abbreviations...), the one I'm working on won't be. As far as I can tell from MRB screenshots, the bridge leading toward Bruma takes the same space where I built my derelict "Old Bridge". It's not a coincidence: it's a nice flat area, attractive for landscaping.

Second, I have a plan to develop a ferry service around the lake, like the one that ran in Vivec. So chances are you won't have to get wet in order to cross the lake, only it will cost more if you want to take your horse across too. :)

A bump for the only mod I use that conflicts (e.g. replaces in my game) a UL.

Really looking forward to another release. If you do add immersive interiors you will make many people very happy I think.

I have the same feeling...and am no longer using Imperial Isle.

Just saying hi!

I'm still alive and well, which is nice. I'm... not currently working on ICS, which isn't so nice, I know. Taking a swim in a different river, mostly playing (and occasionally modding for) Bioware games lately. But I still insist I'll finish this some day.

The state of completeness is like this:
- the exteriors are done and I'm not planning to add more areas in foreseeable future
- the interiors are around 80% done (happy lady)
- scripts (as in, plans and written materials) for quests are around 10% done (sad lady)
- NPCs and schedules are 50% done

Once all of the above are complete, I'll make the final release. If only I could do that before Skyrim!

Oh, and special thanks to richardrocket009 for posting on my blog. :)

With so much done, it would be a shame if such a fine project was shelved indefinitely. Your choice, I know, but you've done so much, already. How much more time/work do you think the rest would require?

If I were to work on it every day, I could probably finish in three-four months. It would be a reasonable goal to plan the release for October. That would make 2 years since the release of Beta (!!!) and it would give people time to play it before Skyrim. One has nothing to do with the other, but I have this feeling that if I don't finish before Skyrim, I never will.

The problem is, I can't make any promises, to you guys or to myself - too much RL stuff planned for the summer. Like, getting married. :)

But I haven't given up on it, make no mistake.

And, fable, thanks for the kind words.
