Some mod help

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:46 pm

Hey could anyone suggest a good leveling mod and a hunger/thirst/sleep mod. Been having trouble finding these two and can't remember what ones I had before.

(Im using FCOM)

Thanks.

nGCD seems to be the most popular leveling mod, especially with FCOM users, but I'm partial to KOBU's myself, Kobu's Character Advancement System or KCAS for short. There's also Realistic Leveling. As for the survival mods, I feel the ones that start with Real in their name are the best ones out there, like Real Sleep etc. That mod also has an option of making various changes to your time scale while you play, allowing you to have different rates while you're outside or in and so on.

KOBU's the one i used to use, thanks for jogging my memory though it might not work with the new patches? I'll check out real sleep, thanks.

Well, Kobo's can't be classed as a leveling mod as all it does is slow down skill advancement. Progress does this in a much superior method.
True leveling mods would be nGCD (which I can't see past and highly recommend) Oblivion XP and Realistic Leveling. Others that are popular are SPAM and AF Leveling.
Possibly the best realism mods can be found in Kurtee an tejons's threads.

Kobus' or KCAS is indeed a leveling mod, but like AF Leveling an outdated one.

...surely good ones, though I still prefer my own Real Sleep Extended;) Now, tejon makes good mods, but Real Sleep Extended (which is the one Belanos recommends) has much more detail than other sleep mods, like taking into consideration when (morning/day/evening/night) and where (inside/outside, bed/bedroll/other) you sleep - and a lot of other factors. If those don't mean much other mods may suit you better. :)

You clearly don't know how the mod works. It is indeed a leveling mod as it completely changes the way your characters advances in the game. The slower progression you mention is completely separate from the mod itself, in the form of optional plugin files you can add.

I'm using it on a fully patched game and have no issue with it.

It still works though, newer doesn't always mean better. I've tried pretty much all of the leveling mods out there, including Oblivion XP, and Kobu's is still my favourite. I find it comes the closest to maintaining the essence of the original system, while eliminating all that +5 nonsense.

Who is Kurtee an tejons? where are his/her threads? All that comes up in forum search is a compatibility thread for some mod.
