Adding Resources To Mods

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:48 am

I'm not too sure on the process of adding resources to mods. For example, I was thinking on using some of the creatures from The Undead by Neoptolemus (provided it IS actually usable as a resource). Obviously, if I just added the creatures' files to my mod as is, anyone using The Undead AND mine in future games will have a matching ID error. I assume I would have to rename the files. What is the correct process to do this?

You don't need to rename the files (unless the ReadMe asks you to) but you do need to rename the ID of the creature to something unique. That way, your creature will not conflict with or alter any creature from the original mod.

edit: I should add that this is also how you make the resource dependent on your esp, instead of the original one it came from.

Ahh, ok. That is pretty easy. Thanks.

Edit: One problem i'm having with adding a certain creature from The Undead is it's telling me the actor has no animation groups. I have a slight idea what this means, but i'm not sure how to add them. The 'Animation' button isn't highlighted, so I can't press it at the moment. Any help?
