Mods not showing up?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:58 pm

I've had Oblivion for many years, but never on the PC.

I just got it for the PC and have been installing many mods.

Quite a few of which didn't show up. Namely:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15562

Adonnay's weaponry is supposed to add a little house west of cheydinhal, with a guy who sells you the weapons. No such house exists.

Shadow Armor is supposed to be sold by Rasheda in Chorrol. Her inventory is not changed.

Now, my first response would be to check the Data Files and make sure it is checked. Both are checked, I installed the same way I do in Morrowind.

What can be the problem?

Did you install the resources like meshes and textures into your Oblivion\Data folder? Are you using OBMM or Wrye Bash to install and BOSS to manage your Load Order yet?
Wrye Bash and OBMM both allow you to use a form of Archive Invalidation called Bsa Redirection, which means the last item installed is the first item used.

Well, the mods come with an file marked 'Data'

I copy and paste that into the Data folder in Oblivion.

"Do you want to merge these two folders?"

Yes.

And thats how I do it.

Sorry for the double post.

I installed Wyre Bash. Now, I have a cozy little folder in my Oblivion Folder named "Mopy"

Yet nothing changed.

In the Mopy Folder you will find an icon to place on your desktop to launch Wrye Bash, If you are using the Stand-alone version of 291 you are almost ready to lauch Wrye Bash and let it create an Oblivion Mods folder by running it and selecting the Installers Tab.

I wasn't using stand-alone, but I reinstalled Wyre using the standalone package.

I used the installers tab, and loaded all my mods with Wyre. Started oblivion, and it crashed upon loading my game.

I was going to tell you to use OBMM, but you decided to go with Wrye Bash, use the first link in my signature to begin Installing your mods properly, for example Adonnay's Elven Weaponry has an Engish and a German esp, You only want one for the mod, and this mod has a fixed version which is a separate download that is just the esp files, but you need the meshes and textures for the mod to work.
I do not want to try and steer you away from Wrye Bash and BAIN, but you really need to do some reading to get it to work at first. I added the third link in my signature because of people asking questions about building a Bashed Patch, but the pictorial guide by Alt3rin1ty is a good place to start, and once you do get used to using Bash, many mods like Cobl, Race Balancing Project, Lame, Unique Landscapes Compilation OMOD and Better Cities are all Bash ready, and BAIN makes uninstalling mods and adjusting Load and Install Orders very easy.
EDIT Installing Oblivion inside of C:Program Files is a bad idea on a computer with Windows Vista and 7, because of a program called UAC. I created a folder called Games on my hard drive and install all of my games in it to avoid UAC.

You mean, you copy and paste it in Oblivion, correct? Because if you're copying it into Oblivion/data, it will show up as Oblivion/data/data, and that's wrong.

Yes, that is what I meant.

For now, Bradleyh, I need to sleep. Later in the morning I can go about your instructions.

However, I truly appreciate your time given to helping me.
