I'm terribly sorry if there is a topic about this, as my phone can't use search...

But how many of you are considering making a Skyrim character and maxing out every skill? I know its been done in Oblivion, but it seems even more worth it in Skyrim because all skills count towards leveling up.

This raises another question... If going to jail lowers skills... Is anyone thinking about grinding for a level 100 character?

Just curious to know... Thanks

Yes, cause it's what I like to do. I'll find a way to break the game and do it if they are intending to not allow me to.

In time, but with perks and no attributes "perfect" characters aren't possible. My main character will max everything out eventually, but he's not going out of his way to do it.

Assuming you start off at 0 in each skill, you COULD theoretically get to level 180 and that's without skill decreases from jail time.

No.
over time, I will make many characters, each different, concentrating in different areas.
One might have something against magic, or another might be too honorable to sneak around and pick locks, etc.....

Exactly why I was curious... If you Max out a skill, but don't have any perks for that skill.... Will it really be that powerful? If perks make the game then I have a feeling maxing out skills wont be as impactful or rewarding for players.

explain please? Because when you say experience system, that makes me think of FO3's leveling system, and I wouldn't like that in ES games, their thing is that you gain experience in a skill, say swords, then gaining a level in swords adds a point to leveling up your total level, and doing that 10 times levels you up. So what's the new system like then?

noo, its not like FO3, you dont get experience for killing things... well, kinda. they dont even call it experience, its just a generalized term i'm using to help convey the concept. you get 'experience' by using your skills... you wont get a number saying how much you got... but increasing lower skills wont contribute to your overall level up gauge as much as increasing higher skills... so one hand of 70 gives you more 'experience' than destruction of 17... you get what i'm saying? theres no concrete amount of skill increases you need to level... each skill will give you a portion when you increase said skill. the higher the skill, the closer you will get to leveling.

You level faster with skills your good at, as a posed too ones your not goo at.
There is also a soft cap at 50, training skills will effect level up at a slowed rate.

Increasing your skills count towards levling up, and using the skill increases it. However, going from a skill level of 5 to 6 won't count as much towards level up as going from 55 to 56.

They mentioned a "mathematical cap" in the low 70s for level.

but is that assuming you dont go to jail and decrease your skills, like in Morrowind, or Oblivion? I know theres a new crime system, but if they still do skill decreases, then theoretically its possible to bypass the 'mathematical cap'.

I tend to agree with you here. I've never made a maxed out character... whether i finish everything in the game before it happens, or i get bored, or i just get annoyed that my character is so out of character (if that makes sense lol). I've tried, but i tend to lean towards the having multiple characters do different things method... especially with perks now

Technically you could, but after the soft cap (50) leveling will be hard, but if you want to grind go for it bro. Can't wait to see you post your (legit) stats.

hahaha yeah right, there's no way i'ma try that hahaha... i made the topic to see if anyone was crazy enough to legitimately max their skills and/or grind to 100.

but you gotta think... if your skilll gets dropped from 100-99, thats the biggest amount of level gauge you can get every time you increase skill... so how long would it take really? i REALLY hope someone finds out and lets me know lol.
