How did you fight Foryn Gilnith?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:43 am

Recently started a new character, and got to probably the first fight against an NPC in the game, Foryn Gilnith in Seyda Neen (part of the Death of a Taxman quest). He can only fight hand to hand which got me thinking: do people fight him with whatever they're best skilled at - Destruction, axe etc, or fight him hand to hand as well? I kind of feel it's unsporting to just beat him easily with a long blade, but he can be a challenging fight if done hand to hand.

Different strokes for different folks.

I've always considered a fight "fair" if, at the end, I'm standing and my opponent is on the ground.

I tend to use whatever comes to hand, which is generally what my character is best at. So usually he gets Spark cast at him, or he gets a dagger planted in his chest.

Not a big fan of straight up warriors.

Usually uses the sword from Mr. Fallingfromthesky. Gilnith is a murderer, in what way is it just to give him a chance to escape?

My Necromancer uses one tactic for EVERY body:

1. Cast damage strength spell. Managed to skill up to the point where i can damage 100 points in one shot. Ie: they cant move now or attack back with any skill. Kind of cheap.. but meh.
2. Summon [insert any one of my many minions]
3. Drink a fine glass of Flin.
4. Profits :celebration:

Well this is my dilemma, about how it's dishonourable to fight someone in a way that they can't win, so it's noble to give him a sporting chance. But then again, hand to hand in Morrowind is all about hitting someone when they're down...so I can't win really. Might as well stab him repeatedly.

In my game, he's a tough SoB, caused by i think LGNPC. So killed him with some scoll's that caused him frost damage.

I usually go the fisticuffs route but that's only because that early on I can't really lay a hit with anything else.

That early in the game Ill only have my starter skills and spells.

I usually spark him while backing away. Sanctuary if I got it.

I have a destiny to fulfill, cant waste too much time on backwater murderers.

Depends. Sometimes I like to stab him and sometimes I fight him hand to hand. I once left Seyda Neen an got higher level so I could come back and make his end the worst possible. I casted a paralyze spell on him, a spell that slowly did frost damage, and I punched him until he died.
That's what gets for being a murderer! :flame:

I started playing on the XBox when Morrowind first came out, and he gave me a lot of trouble (that is, he kept beating me to death after exhausting my fatigue) with the weapons and skills I had available. Eventually, I found a way to climb out of his reach and kill him with arrows. *chuckle*

I'm fond of mages and stealth characters so either a frostbite spell or a shortsword usualy does the trick. I wouldn't be too concerned about fighting fair. The guy is a remorsless murderer.

Stab him with daggers usually. I did have one character simply beat him to death with his fists, though.

since most of my characters as of late have been primarily H2H or blunt, he'll either end up being beaten to death or just tenderized to extinction.

Depends on what I got. Usually, I have a good weapon by then. I mean, hey, the guy who gave me my freedom told me to kill a guy who killed another guy... and he is going to pay me! Why mess with the long route? There is money to be made.

Personally, frost damage is my favorite way of doing it, but I will just stab him to death if I have to. Not all of my characters are mages.

I fought him with a one handed iron longsword or the one handed iron sparksword you get from the falling wood elf in the bitter coast region.

usually just used whatever weapon and or spells i had. sometimes H2H though, as i though it'd be more fair or a change of pace or whatever.

I use the axe I pulled out of the stump near the lighthouse. He dies in, like, three hits.

And then I use his corpse to store mushrooms.

well it isn't my fault that he did not take the money to by a weapon... that stupid n'wah.

I've always just bought the best weapon in the skill I chose for that character from Arille (SP?). So that would be the weapon I use.

I always just spam Spark. It's hilarious how fast he goes down sometimes, and sometimes when his health his near 0 I like to just leave him and watch him try to flee inside a tiny shack.
