so i'm watching Pgamer's Lets play morrowind with the 2011 mods, and we're at the point where he's in Vivec. and wow, what a beautiful city. that city is just HUGE!! almost way too huge! oblviions imperial city is also similar, but i still love the design of vivec more! (cause i'm morrowind guy).

i know we're getting one huge metropolis like city, and i hope that it will have that vivec like feel! i want my jaw to drop when i see it. i know there was alot to do in vivec, but i still think they could've added more things. i remember there being some fish monger shops, etc, but there's no quest related to them.

anyway..here's hoping. lol

I just want to say that you MAY not get one big metropolis city. We know Windhelm is the biggest, but it sounds more like in this game the cities will be mostly even sized, but larger in general. I just hope they are adequately big, I will be dissapointed if they all have 40 buildings or less, considering there's only 5.

FWIW, The IC has more houses/shops than Vivec, but Vivec is physically larger.

EDIT: Going by one map, Solitude is the capital for the Empire while Windhelm is the capital for Skyrim rebels.

The one thing that impressed me the most when I started to play TES2: Daggerfall was the sheer size of the cities. It would be nice to see huge cities return to TES although I would worry about the framerate :P

Assassin's Creed had very nice cities, but at the same time they were only filled with generic people, wasn't possible to really enter any buildings and so on, while Skyrim will keep track of every single NPC and have interiors for everything. So there is a lot more to keep track of and to build.

I hope the biggest city makes New York look like a little town

I remember pre morrowind in the late 1990s before the game had been officially announced with any screens or real info other than some concept art. They talk about one of the cities being I believe almost the size of new york. However a lot of this was rumor or just statements made by Bethesda employees on what they might like to have. Clearly the came to their senses and realize that quality trumps quantity any day. The massive cities in Daggerfall were impressive especially Daggerfall with the main castle. However they were all generic and even though there were thousands of cities they all looked about the same with their random generator.

I think one massive capital city in Skyrim would be great, but if it is massive all buildings and such should have a purpose. Big for the sake of big with no real reason for some giant citadel that is there but has no use other than people walking around in it and being huge is pointless. I am in favor of a big capital don't get me wrong just do it right.

I also want more differences in cities like in Morrowind, with different areas and factions having different structures.

I certainly hope there are going to be fewer, but larger cities than in both Morrowind and Oblivion.
