Horse Armor DLC

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:50 am

So, that Horse Armor DLC was awesome, right? I'm sure all of you purchased it back in the day, once word spread of how useful and cool it was. Well, wouldn't it be great if Bethesda gave out a freebie DLC to honor those who purchased that original DLC. It could be another set of horse armor (if horses make it in Skyrim) or even something lame like an avatar shirt "I bought horse armor and all I got was this lousy horse armor / this t-shirt " or whatever. Obviously I want Bethesda focused on the "important stuff" so that Skyrim is awesome, but it would be a nice gesture to loyal fans and pretty dang funny. What say you Bethesda?

A Spear Replica weapon so that it can be in the game and then the fans won't complain about "Where did my spear go".

Horse armour and spears will be available as DLC but they will cost your first born child. 50% off if they are called Dovahkiin.

YES to the spear replica, that'd be hilarious, and easy too since they already have staves.

EDIT: It should also say, "Limited Collectors Edition" on it and come from Morrowind.

I'm pretty sure horses won't be in Skyrim, at least not as personal mounts. I've seen a number of posts discussing this, based on comments supposedly made by Todd. He wasn't satisfied with the way they worked in Oblivion and decided not to include them in Skyrim.

Err... they're working really hard to include them. Todd says horses are looking good but he doesn't want to promise anything. I hope they're still mountable...

I'd rather have a daedric-booted, dragon-riding, spear-wielding, beast-legged Argonian werewolf... figurine.

But I doubt it [free horse armour/joke DLC] will happen; Bethesda have said that they still sell the horse armour to this day(!), and despite all the jokes about it, there are acceptable excuses for it not being the most expansive or best value DLC ever. Skyrim's DLC will apparently be similar to (or larger than?) Fallout 3's in size.

So what exactly is Bethesda having trouble with the horses? Hit detection? Animations? Controls? Gamebreaking bugs?

My take on it is that they're trying mounted combat, and don't want to feature mounts that can't be fought on. If not that, some system that better ties them into Skyrim's gameplay, I'd guess; perhaps quest tie-ins, functional saddlebags, or whatnot.

I recall reading one comment by Todd where he said that Oblivion's horses handled like tanks, so maybe it's the control thing.

Or better yet a free DLC labelled 'horse armour', with beautiful, fearsome, gleaming sets of armour in the pics and description of the content and then when you have your horse outfitted with it in the game, he shows up wearing a giant T-shirt that says, "I'm with stupid" on the sides.

I always thought he meant their animations.

i hope they are looking at mount and blade because anything short of that is going to be awful. of course i also wished they looked at mount and blade weapons as well since they are much better looking than oblivions.

Mount and Blade FTW! That game has the best mounted combat.

Worse, think the giant warehouse of robot horses in Mothership Zeta, totally useless and surreal. Now imagine a medieval version of it with horse armor.

So.. they only cost.. half of my first born child?

..I think I'd rather them have the whole thing.

In all seriousness, yes, this would be epic. Like they did for people who purchased all the FO3 DLC. I got a free theme for my Xbox dashboard for it via email code. Could have a similar thing for an avatar t-shirt, or I rather like the 'Replica Spear' DLC idea. That would be brilliant.

Yes horse armor was awesome. The very mention of horse armor is synonymous with worthless DLC. More people know what horse armor is then will ever know the names of you or me.

If there's no horses included they'll probably still sell us horse armor anyway. But in all seriousness they could learna thing or two from the way Red Dead Redemption handled horses.

But I heard/read that their real problem is the controlling of them and ofc the mounted combat.
