Frequent crashing while zoning or waiting

I'm experiencing frequent crashing while zoning or waiting. I can play just fine for about 15-30 minutes, running freely wherever I like. I've tried using Streamline and purging, also installed BOSS, weOCPS and stutter remover. I've waited countless days in the testinghall hoping for a quick fix, but no such luck. It's really grating on me that I have to either fast travel or movetoqt wherever I want to go, I feel as though I'm missing out on WHY I'm playing..no sense of adventure.

Is my cpu holding me back? Or is there something more I'm missing? I read posts here about people being able to play FCOM setups crash-free up until they hit the memory barrier (some say they can play for 3-4 hours at a time!) I can't even make it 45 minutes without having to reload the game. For what it's worth, my computer is prime95 and OCCT stable for 8+ hours. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 1. Turn off autosave on wait/travel/rest if you haven't already.

2. Update your FCOM install. You should use UFCOM, OOO 1.34 Beta 5 etc. if using the latest MMM.

You should get more RAM,if you have the extra slots to install it, 2Gb is not a lot for an FCOM install and your OS to work. You need to update OOO to version 1.34, and you could use the MMM Runeskulls plugin instead of the Exnem Runeskulls.
Your FCOM setup is a little outdated, but the FCOM release thread has the links to get it current.
Use the links in my signature for links to the updates you need, You should get the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch and the Unofficial Official Mods Patch, and the Supplemental Patches by Arthmoor.

Thank you both for the replies. I've updated my UOP, FCOM and OOO mods, waited for respawn and things seem to be improved slightly. My crashes during travels aren't as frequent, but earlier today I found the perfect example of what's happening. I'm traveling from Bruma to the Ancestor moth temple, and as soon as I get there I get the crash. I can confirm it isn't a corrupt spawn, as reloading and traveling there again results in no crash whatsoever. Keep in mind it only takes me roughly 5 minutes to run there, surely I can't be hitting my RAM limit ceiling already can I?

Would it be better for this ancient computer if I were to disable FCOM and just run OOO? I enjoy the extras that MMM adds but can do without them for the sake of stability.

EDIT: I'll be looking for another set of OCZ ram, I see quite a few sets on ebay. Hoping that'll help as well even though I'm on a 32-bit OS.

Gonna be tough with only 2 gig ram....but things you can try..

With FCOM try a reduced Spawn, just to much AI processing going on in the world.
Try clean boot, or use game booster to shut down unnecessary process.
HTFpcb Extended

Even if your OS is using 500 meg ram. that only leaves Oblivion 1.5 Meg to play with.

But i will say this since adding the HTFpcb to my arsenal even when I go 5 -8 hours Oblivion rarely goes over 2.2 Gig used.

I'm running a stable FCOM+ setup on an ancient rig with only 1 GB RAM and it's very stable (except for overload CTDs if playing "too long"). With FCOM compared to OOO it's mainly the spawns that adds a performance hit and that can be addressed by using a reduced spawns esp. Also, post your updated load order via Wrye Bash. Did you turn off autosave btw?

Some notes:

08 UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp [Version 1.0.0] - Skip and use the Bashed Patch tweak instead.

++ Item interchange - Extraction.esp [Version 0.76] - Update. It's at 0.78 now (unless I've missed updating it myself...).

0D Streamline 3.0.esp - Definitely update to 3.1 and don't forget the patch.

18 ExnemRuneskulls.esp - Not needed as it is merged now.
++ FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp [Version 0.9.9] - Not needed either.

++ MMM-Cobl.esp [Version 1.69] - Redo your Cobl install. You should either use FCOM_Cobl with Cobl 1.72 - or use MMM-Cobl 1.73 with Cobl 1.73. See FCOM opening post for guide.

27 Harvest [Flora].esp [Version 3.0.0] - Make sure you're using the latest standalone release (3.0.1., although it says 3.0.0 when listed) as the bundled version in OOO has the "harrada bug".

++ Item interchange - Placement for FCOM.esp [Version 0.76] - Update as said.

39 Beautiful People.esp - I'd stay away from BP, better to use either RBP or Cobl Races.

I got rid of Tamriel Travellers, and updated everything you mentioned. Harvest Flora is at 3.0.1, and also got rid of beautiful people and running Cobl Races now. Couldn't find Cobl 1.73, so using 1.72 & FCOM_Cobl. Here is my (hopefully) final load order...

It's the Cobl version in Loot-Drop-Merchant changes Proposal that is listed as 1.73, so if following the Quick Cobl for UFCOM Guide in the FCOM thread you'll get it.

I threw another 1GB of RAM in the computer, but no luck on the stability front. 2 CTD's while walking from Cheydinhal to IC. I'm going to do a fresh install and follow the 50+ Steps to Stable FCOM++ thread again, I'm guessing I missed a step or turned on too many mods at once. Lack of sleep while doing the install before probably means I did something stupid and didn't notice.

Can't edit my above post, but just went through my list with TES4Edit and cleaned the "dirty" mods, and for the first time in 5 YEARS, I was able to hop on Shadowmere and travel from Cheydinhal to Anvil with no CTDs! I didn't stop to fight any enemies or rest, but this is a massive improvement. Thank you again for the help Arkngt, looks like I can finally play and not worry about how often I'm saving :D

You're welcome. :) Yes, cleaning dirty mods can be crucial when it comes to stability. I briefly tried out Hentai Mania 2 w/o checking/cleaning it and had sudden, random CTD's all the time. Removing it fixed it, but so did cleaning it when I checked it out at a later date. Turned out I didn't like it so a waste of time but there you go.
