I am having problems installing Morrowind to my PC. It has Vista, and while playing around trying to install it, I have received two different error messages. One had an error code of 0x80040801 and the other said something like "An error has occurred while launching the setup. Catastrophic failure."

Can anyone help? I have looked EVERYWHERE.

First thing to do is make sure you turn off any anti-virus program before running the install.

Are you running off CD? also, for things like ES games and construction sets, you MUST run them as Administrator if they are in your Program Files>Bethesda folder. Right click on the file, Properties>Compatibility. On the bottom will be an option to always run the game as Administrator. This solves like 90% of Vista/Morrowind problems
