Help finding some mods

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:01 am

Im a diehard Morrowind fan, which means i have no problem wandering around the interwebs finding (or making) any mod i want for that. Every blue moon though, i have a go playing Oblivion and recently ive been annoyed by a few things that im sure have been modded out.

Ive had a good hard go googling things and searching though PES and Nexus and found many answers to my queries but theres still a few little things i'd like some help finding that a more Oblivion-focused player would probably be more aware of.

1. Some type of decent Manor house WITHIN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS of the Imperial City. It seems that every house mod for Oblivion tries to be as big and imposing as possible. Not that this is a bad thing, but most "Imperial City Houses" end up being outside the city limits and or placed in some stupid structure (like a lighthouse in the middle of the road.............). So are there any well made, simple manors (that are just like any of the other humble manors you would find in say the Temple District or something) that fit this bill? I dont want stupid underground escape tunnels, wine barrel doors or teleport rooms; i just want to be humble and boring like the other NPC's ^_^

2. Some kind of well made business mod. Ive seen the (ah forgot the name) buy a business in Chorrol (Pats?) and that seemed.. interesting. But i'd rather have some sort of raw materials into items set up. Like a good vineyard or soemthing. And dont dare bring up Shadowblahblah Vineyard mod cos that was just pointless since (in the version i had atleast) you couldnt SELL the wine cos you needed the bottles back -_- Maybe a mine, Vineyard, forge or something similar.

3. Some kind of well made economy fixer. Im sick of every shop everywhere selling trash. Sure, at later levels, every shop seems to magically aquire ONE SINGLE generic awesome item, but i want all items to be available at all levels. Maybe this would be better addressed by something that fixes the whole level-based universe issue. Ive never really followed any discussion on Oblivion but i have no doubt the levelling was fixed by some mod in like the first week of release. Ive just never gotten around to finding it or using it.

My years of experience with the superior Morrowind CS means that i could definately have a crack at these mods (especially the House one) but i thought i'd just see what those in the know have to say ^_^ before i spend/waste my time doing it.

Cheers ;) and just overlook the bitter tone ive no doubt written this with. Spent a few hours testing and uninstalling countless poorly made Oblivion mods. Just need some help finding the good ones that im sure are out there :D

:celebration:

Hmm, Imperial City, not exactly a manor but WhoGuru did Peruggia's Passage http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/670-peruggias-passage/

gamesas relz topic here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143307-relz-peruggias-passage/

Or have a look at the houses category http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/category/5-houses/

Theres another site someone will probably remember, which has loads of house/manor/castles listed but I cant remember the name

My favorite Imperial City house mod is Princess Stomper's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=2534 It's a cozy yet not too small house in the Talos District. I moved mine into the Market District for my game because Talos is just a little too upscale for most of my characters. ;)

I can't answer your other two questions. If you consider Korana's mod to be "pointless" I don't know what to tell you.

As for an economy mod, it sounds like you want a mod that completely de-levels items found in shops, making all items available to buy at level 1? If so, I'm not familiar with a mod that does that, but maybe someone else is. The most-often used economy mods (Living Economy, Enhanced Economy) take the opposite approach: they withhold high-level items from the economy. Anyway, good luck and here's a bit of friendly advice: try to adopt a more positive attitude about mods when requesting help here in the future.

I was going to link you to Princess Imperial City Apartment, but looks like I was beat to it. I think it will fit your bill. Enhanced Economy is, IMHO, the best economy mod out there, but it doesn't do what you are looking for. I'm not familiar with anything that does what you are looking for with the leveled lists (not that it doesn't exist, it just definitely isn't in the "everyone has this" list of mods).

Consider http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3507. I've never tried it, but I remember mention of it several years back during a discussion of the pros and cons of scaling.

Hmm thanks for the ideas guys. No real luck with the house still, but so i'll probably just do that myself.

Do a search on TES Nexus in the category of Oblivion houses with the word Imperial in the description. That should give you a good list to work from.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27951 might interest you. If you really want a house like the NPCs have, you can take one of them, under the correct circumstances.
