According to the http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst115ReleaseNotes.aspx there's nothing huge offered by this update.

Just tried 11.5. No difference from 11.4.

Bugger... Everything else worked. Just not AA. I KNEW I should've gotten the laptop with the nVidia card! Everything was the same except the damn graphics card!

...I suppose, for the time being, I could use the other AA shader... it's nowhere near as nice as MLAA but at least it gets rid of jaggies... sort of... Or hopefully OBGE3 will help with the issue...? Perhaps it's just wishful thinking on my part...

You can still force CCC to use "morphological filtering" and it will produce decent results, but the ant-like effect around light sources is pretty annoying.

Definitely wishful thinking. OBGE's core operations are what make it incompatible with AA in this game (it has to do with both of them trying to use the depth buffer at the same time. That can't be done on DX9).

Hi,

Just a note about ATi Tray Tools and RadeonPro.

I discovered that RadeonPro would not function with OBSE. The monitor process function of RadeonPro interfers with and somehow disables OBSE, as I told TheNiceOne in another discussion.
I use ATi Tray Tools sucessfully, you need to make sure you have the latest version from http://cid-a50350ea7a969f0c.office.live.com/self.aspx/Public/attsetup.exe, this link can be found on the ATi Tray Tools forum http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=320467. The version I am using is 1.7.9.1551 and is a public beta version. Works fine on Windows 7 x64 (UAC must be disabled for the driver to install and load on boot) with a Radeon HD 5570 card and OBSE functions fine with it too. I can set everything to max using ATi Tray Tools although performance hit is heavy but it does override AA.

Nope, that beta copy doesn't work either. It's not OBSE that's at fault here, it's OBGE - the graphics extender. Apparently what Thomas said applies to the driver trying to override the game's render output as well, although I don't really understand why that's an issue.

That beta version does appear to be leaving my fan speed selections alone though, so that's something.

I'm just parroting what Ethatron said in the OBGE forums about this, so I don't really understand it either. All I get is that DX9 can only handle one render override at a time, so you have to choose between forced AA or OBGE.

Hi,

Forgot to mention that I don't use OBGE as I prefer to have AA forced.
I might look at OBGE again as there seems to be an improved AA shader available. I guess I'll try to compare performance vs quality, if I get the time, these days I don't much time to look at Oblivion or indeed any games 8:(.

EDIT: Just downlead the latest ATi Tray Tools and installed. I have ATI Catalyst 11.4 installed. I can force AA with ATi Tray Tools no problem. Without any AA I get capped (Stutter Remover) 60 FPS, with maxed out ATi Tray Tools settings I get ~20 to 28 FPS.
Now I just to find that improved AA Shader that was mentioned earlier, does anyone have a link for it?

I was thinking, what version of Oblivion are you all running ?

AMD use profiles associated with the .exe's name so when running obse_loader.exe instead of oblivion.exe it may be launching a different profile or none at all.
This shouldnt be a problem with the steam version and renaming the retail versions obse_laucher.exe to something else with a working profile may be a fix.

Ah, cool. Faster performance too. Don't know why it's supposed to be considered inferior, because it made a massive difference visually in my case. On several games now that were not getting AA rendered properly before.

Morphological filtering applies a filter to the entire image - think of it like a photoshop filter softening the edges in the entire image. In the end, it is comparable to super-sampling AA only with better performance. However, there are cases - such as text - that the smootheness is very noticeable and makes people see it as "blurry". Its a matter of preference / personal taste. The normal AA method (with the modes simple, adaptive or super-sampling) is there for those who prefer anyway.
