Why will you buy skyrim? Or why not?

:lmao: You do realize where you are typing those posts, don't you? You're on the Beth forum, and you want to bring up things entirely unrelated to the point that someone is discussing in a vain attempt to point out the ignorance of youth.... How ironic, considering you are also posting here, so why should you be so concerned with scolding people for listing their own personal preferences and thoughts about buying a game? It has nothing to do with "bigger real life issues", and yet you seem to think they come into play here. How amusing.

I do realize where I am... the least you could've done, is quote the entire sequence, or at least read it.

I am not "scolding" anyone. It all started because I questioned the OP's choice of words, and I quote:
"So i found quite a bit of people here that will NOT buy skyrim for stupid reasons and such,"
I just quoted that and asked, "Stupid reasons?"

You tell me who's "scolding" who for personal preferences and thoughts.

I will buy Skyrim because I have always enjoyed TES. I have not played a game that makes exploring as fun as the Elder Scrolls does. For me, there isn't any reason not to buy it.

I will wait a few days after release before I make my decision, so I can read reviews.

I hyped myself up WAY too much for Oblivion, and I was let down very much so, and it took me a while before I could enjoy Oblivion for what it was.

Well, I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours just playing oblivion and found that fun, with Skyrim being the next in the elder scrolls series of course I'm going to buy it.

If I wasn't I probably wouldn't be on this forums 190 some days before the games release, lol.

Depends (not the poo bags).

If they do the PC version properly then yes. If not, then no. I mean why even do one if your not going to do it right? Why waste all the time afterward on patches and what not if the code in the first place isn't optimized the way it should be.

I loved GTA IV (R*' world just rocks) even though it was horribly ported to the PC. Sure I could play the game from beginning to end without any crashes and whatever. But, shadows, the moon, marquees, and many other things were just not optimized/present for the PC on release. So then every patch they would release would either break something else or just not do enough to get thing's working as they should have worked from the get go. From then on I've never bought/played another poorly ported PC game. I'm no svcker. I'm not going to pay someone to screw me over (here its good enough). I have to make sure that I'm getting what I'm paying/wanting to pay for.

I love Oblivion but, that's another half ass attempt at a PC port. The UI is just awful. Camera control and fighting/casting (press forward, L/R, back for different attacks gets stale fast with no targeting) are wonky as well. 8 hotkeys, really? many other things as well. I just really hope this is not the case for Skyrim. I'm trying to not get all excited over Skyrim (just to be let down again). But, damn I love the atmosphere that I've seen so far. Love the fall/winter scene.

Even if the port does turn out well. If they don't add mounts I'm most likely not going to get it until they're modded in anyway. Having a horse in Oblivion is essential to me. Getting up hills and whatnot is a PITA without one. Even if they had a way to traverse hills more easily without one, walking is not my idea of fun. Even with the small areas in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it seemed tedious. OH GREAT! I have to walk all the way over THERE!? And then back again to turn in a quest item. Yeah good times...I've played so many games over the years that I've been there done that. So I have high exceptions. I just hope at least most of them are met with Skyrim. If not, oh well. Moving on.

A while ago, I would have definitely said yes, I will buy it, but now... I had to really think about it after they took out abilities. I'm buying it.

Elder Scrolls helps set the benchmark.

I'll need something to compare every other game to.

the game seemingly gets dumbed down even more than Oblivion
How so?

Axing yet more skills for example.

And I hope you're not attached to your basic stats. You know, strength, intelligence and such.....

So, you are really fond of Athletics and Acrobatics? You enjoyed jumping up and down and just moving to gain levels? I don't even want to get started on Attributes.

What BGS is doing with Skyrim represents a refinement, from which future TES games will grow. It is not a dumbing down. You are wrong.

Time to lock this. And we really don't need a new thread about this, if you want to discuss separate issues like the lack of attributes, then there are already other threads devoted for that.
