New Idea about merchants

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:41 pm

Ok, here is an idea about buying itesm. Ok, so when you go up to the NPC Merchant he greets you. Then he asks, "What do you need?" Then the menu pops up with all of the items like it has done previously. Then, when you choose your item hell say like "Good choice" or a term like "An axe made for the mightiest orc!" or something that has to do with your race., Then it will exit out of the itesm for sale menu and it will show the merchant go and pick up the item on his counter, and show him hand it to you. What do you guys think about this idea?

I think something similar was in OB, but with a differen theme. Either way: sure, why not.

its a good idea in theory but think about how much you sell and buy in the game, it would be an annoyance after a while

A little too time consuming, both for the player and the developers. And the talking would get annoying after a while. Remember the clothing stores in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland?

"I like that shirt"
"That shirt looks good on you"
"Good choice, those pants are nice"

<_<

A person made a thread about this literally 5 mins ago. Sounded interesting then and still does now!

I usually never buy just one thing when I am shopping. If I had to go through this for every item I purchase I'd kill the merchant, then spend a lot of time here posting my displeasure about it.

My ladies hope that the local coture shops have fitting rooms and that the merchants will allow them to try on various articles of clothing without being arrested.

Arrest should only occur if one leaves the merchant's place of business without making payment.

This. Harvesting animations, buying/selling animations, other mundane things that really add a layer of coolness to the game are generally cool the first 5-10 times. On my 3rd playthrough, when I'm selling 500 lbs of kit or buying a ton of ingredients, nah...it'd rather it just be a quick menu interface.

Pass.

Completely unnessecary (I'm the spreadsheet kind of player), and oy that would get irksome. If anything, streamline the sales mechanics.

Why even have a menu. Just have everything for sale out on display. You can pick it up to examine it or equip it to see how it fits while the shop keep might comment on it. Anything you don't give back tio him he assumes you want to buy. When you talk to him or try to leave he confronts you to settle up or takes his things back.

This would become problematic at shops you frequent. When I go spellunking and loot chests and dead bandits, I usually go to the same merchants, who become overwhelmed with merchandise (even during the 72 hour or so inventory reset timeframe OB had). If the shopkeeper had to display everything, it just wouldn't work if you kept selling and selling.
