Is there politics?

I was wondering if it would be possible to become ruler of a town? or king of the whole land?

You know.. Getting income from tax, waging war, taking land and doing business on it, etc.

Well, there's a new Mount & Blade coming out soon.

edit: to be more clear - I think you're looking for a different genre / style of game. :)

Short answer: No one knows.

Long answer: No one but Todd Howard knows.

I am not, thank you, very much...

If you remember, Oblivion had loads of towns, kings, queens, shops, inns but no politics or complex trade system whatsoever. I think some of us have *cough* "grown up" since then and would like something a bit more complex, in other words.. politics, trade.

I hope we can at least capitalize on the civil unrest within the province in one way or another :chaos:

Well, the description on the main page and the little summaries we have received from previews seem to imply that there is, but we do not yet know just what extent we can involve ourself in the politics and how involved the politics will be in the main plot.

I've "grown up" from the mid 30s, to 40. And I still don't enjoy "kingdom management" games. One of the main reasons I've avoided the Mount & Blade games, haven't played any of the Civ games since the first, and don't care for the SimCity games.

Aside from that, it's a pretty major gameplay feature - not the kind of thing you'd just toss in as yet another option in a TES game. But hey, that's just my opinion. :)

You read my mind there. Even better if sabotaged fields belong to an opposing hold/faction :whistling:
