Should there be an xbox controller option for PC?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:18 am

For all of the PC users, I prefer to use an xbox wired controller when I play RPG's on PC. I use the mouse and keypad for FPS's I was just wondering. Do you guys think they will or should include the ability to use your wired xbox controller to play this game. Leave a comment on what you guys think. Thanks

Don't most PC games allow you to map control to a 360 controller?

Fallout 3 had it. New Vegas had it. Don't see why Skyrim wouldn't.

ya, Oblivion had it somewhat but was messed up, FO3 had it and NV had it. So yes it will most likely be in skyrim, its not exactly hard to implement since it can be ported over with the rest of the game.

I imagine there will be. It'll just be one more controller the game will be configured to recognize, not a whole lot different from a Logitech or a Saitek.

I use a keyboard & mouse, at least for PC-centric games (first person stuff, or things with lots and lots of controls - just can't manage that stuff on a controller).

....my personal opinion is - sure, having the option to use either is fine. Just not sure why anyone would deliberately choose to cripple themselves by using a controller when they have the option of better controls. :)

Its all a matter of expierence and opinion. I used to be a heavy console gamer and when I started going PC wise for mods and better graphics, I began to gripe over keyboards. Then I got really good with keyboards. To me keyboards and controllers are the same. I use Keyboard and mouse when I am in an intense gaming moment, and need all the controlls and accuracy I can get, and then I use controller's when I want to lie down on a couch and play lazilly. So theirs a good and a bad to both. I'm hoping Skyrim will have xbox 360 controller compatibility just for those ocasions i feel lazy and like to lie down and play.

Yes the recent games all have that option, plus fallout 3 did.

If the controls are like Oblivion I feel more comfy with a mouse and keyboard. But for some reason in FO3 it felt so bad with it I had to use my controller

Man I was actually thinking of making a topic like this. I played fallout 3 and new Vegas with the 360 controller. But I recently got Oblivion for the PC hoping that it would have that option. Not only it didn't have that option but when I tried using xpadder it was a disaster. See I believe the game somewhat recognizes the 360 controller so when I assigned buttons on xpadder the buttons conflict. I tried multiple things but it didnt work and was really getting me frustrated. So basically I sure as H hope they include this feature. Although I might get it for the Ps3 or 360 depending on which one is better...

Yes of course it should be an option. Personally I prefer keyboard and mouse for gaming because A - I've been playing games that way for at least 20 years, probably longer, and B - I have arthritis in my thumb joints and those control pads absolutely kill my hands. But I can't imagine it NOT having that option for those who prefer to use a controller.

I don't know for 100% sure but I am pretty sure you can get 360 controllers for PC's (there are definitly generic console designed controllers for PC's) but I don't know if that means there is a way to get the xbox controllers sold with the consoles to work with a PC.

I agree though, the anolog stick gives you more controll over your movement than WASD + tab allows but PC's have better content or things like the Geck or CS that allows the community to make more content and console users get the shaft.

no if you want to use the [censored] hardware than you buy that devils machine and miss out on how Skyrim is supposed to be played

but in all seriousness there will probably be one so I dont think you have to worry

yes, I do believe that Skyrim will be a GFW title (optional Gamepad control setting is a requirement for that)
