you should have a don't care option. I personally don't care that pets are in the game as long as it doesn't take away from anything.

A giant spider as a pet would be awesome, in my opinion. :D

I suppose rescuing a baby wolf and raising it to be a fierce loyal companion would be pretty cool but I wouldnt be bothered if there were no pets/companions

I found it very difficult to choose between wolf and imp. I finally chose the wolf.

If I may add a suggestion, since I find the bird choice too vague, I think there is a town called Snowhawk in Skyrim. For the town is dubbed this way, it is likely that there exists in Skyrim a bird named "snow hawk". If this assumption is to be verified, then I really would get such a snow hawk as a pet, more precisely as a companion for hunts. I think falconry would fit Skyrim's sphere very well.

Remove "No/ don't care option", it's troll bait & a waste of poll space.
Pets could be a great addition to the game. Animal Taming as a craft would be awesome. You would have to have a lot of different animals in the game to make it interesting though, basically create an in game ecosystem that is well thought out. It would need to be appropriate for the winter wilderness setting.
Mountain lion for me.

Until it pounces on you and drains every ounce of fluid from your body, leaving a dry dead husk?

It's a demon. It kills stuff, wrecks stuff, and leaves stinky messes. That's all they do. Wouldn't really work as a "pet". Imps, maybe. But not Scamps.
Nor would giant predatory insects/arachnids, dragons, elementals, undead, etc.
See where I'm going with this?
You could conjure one up though.

Nah... no thanks, I'm perfectly fine with summons and (human) companions.

Pets will just get in the way.

I might like a wolf or something of the like to keep at home as a guard and house-pet, but not really a combat companion or anything like that. Seems to me like it would get in the way more than it would be helpful. But maybe that's just 'cause I'm a bit of a loner

Squirrely-Squiiiirellly squirrel squirrel squireeeellll!!!

Seriously, can't you just imagine sending it in ahead of you, and it running through the enemy's legs, confusing and disorienting him, then banging on his forehead with a nut while you come in with your weapon, stabbing the poor bastard.

It would instantly make this game awesome, regardless of any other features.
