Install order for texture/meshes

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2009 12:30 am

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, I want to install the following texture/mesh packs using OMOD but there is no documentation out there, and what is out there conflicts with each other by saying to install UOP first, but the PyFFI install guide says to install UOP after QTP3 but before PyFFI QTP3, and now im really confused, I believe this to be the correct order but if its not please tell me:

UOP+SE+MP
AWLS+C+QTP3 Meshes
QTP3:R
PyFFI QTP3
QTP3 UOP Patch

Is AWLS in the right place or should that be latter, like after PyFFI QTP3? Or just after the QTP3 UOP patch? Will QTP3 over write AWLS? Do I overwrite when promted with QTP3:R, PyFFI QTP3 and QTP3 UOP ? Or do I disable UOP, then install QTP3:R, then re-enable UOP+QTP3 UOP then install PyFFI QTP3? Im using Wrye bash or manual install for pretty much everything else but I have OMOD versions for most of these, except QTP3:R but the author says to use OBMM and I feel more comfortable using OBMM for these large texture packs.

The problem with using abbreviations is that quite often posts come across as complete gibberish. What the hell is AWLS + C?

My guess is Animated Windows Lighting System...but C? Who knows... I agree with Belanos, edit your post and someone may help.

I suspect C = COBL. But I don't know the answer anyway. I thought if using QTP:R you need no QTP3 first, but I don't know for sure.

Yes, C could represent hundreds of mods, it's completely meaningless. And QTP3-R could mean either Redimized or Reduced, there's versions using both of those names and they both have different install methods. I don't have a clue what SE and MP is supposed to be either.

You should use BAIN from Wrye Bash to install complex packages, it will tell you which mod overrides which(it will list the files, textures, meshes, etc) according to your install order in BAIN.

You can change the order at will if you encounter conflict and would like one mod to override another and adjust accordingly.

edit:
Example from my frostcrag reborn package:
= Lower ==========================================0== Cleaned_DLCs.7zDLCFrostcrag.esp==2== Obscuro_Oblivion_Overhaul_v1.34b5.7zmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\met2hmace.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metarrow1.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metarrow2.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metarrow3.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metbow.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metdagger.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metmace.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metscimitar.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metssword.nifmeshes\Weapons\Meteoric\metstaff.niftextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metbowico.ddstextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metgreatmaceico.ddstextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metmaceico.ddstextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metscimitarico.ddstextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metsswordico.ddstextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metstaffico.ddstextures\weapons\Meteoric\metbow.ddstextures\weapons\Meteoric\metbow_g.ddstextures\weapons\Meteoric\metbow_n.dds==19== Cobl_172-21104.7zMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\met2hmace.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metarrow1.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metarrow2.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metarrow3.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metaxe.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metaxe2h.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metbow.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metdagger.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metglaive.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metgreatsword.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\methalberd2.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metmace.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metscimitar.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metssword.nifMeshes\weapons\Meteoric\metstaff.nifTextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metgreatmaceico.ddsTextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metmaceico.ddsTextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metscimitarico.ddsTextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metsswordico.ddsTextures\menus\icons\weapons\meteoric\metstaffico.dds= Higher ==========================================22== 2009_05_27_Really_AEVWD.7zMeshes\Architecture\statue\statuemartyn_far.nif

The = Higher = list is which files are overwritten by another mod, the = Lower = are files that are overwritten by this mod and used by other mods.
Of course to use this properly you need to have all your mods installed with BAIN but it's worth it :).

According to the Nexus entry for the PYFFI'd version of QTP3, the mesh fixes for the Unofficial Patch are already included so you only need to install the textures from the UOP QTP3 Patch... I think.

So let's see, I'd say probably install QTP3 first, then the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, then the PYFFI'd meshes, then the textures from the UOP QTP3 Patch, then Animated Window Lighting System.

That should work. Again... I think.

Wow. Considering these abbreviation are used in all the help sites and read me's I didnt think so many people would not get them.

Unofficial Oblivion Path+SI[Typo:Shivering Isles]+MP[Unoffical Oblivion Mods Patch]
AWLS+C+QTP3 Meshes [Artificial Window Lighting System+Chimneys+Quarls Texture Pack 3 Meshes]
QTP3:R [Quarls Texture Pack3:Redimized]
PyFFI QTP3 [PyFFI optimized meshes for Quarls Texture Pack 3]
QTP3 UOP [Quarls Texture Pack 3 Unofficial Oblivion Patch]

The wrye bash stuff is all jibberish to me, higher, lower etc. I use it for things like Open Cities Classic that have predetermined file systems, making bashed patches but I dont want to use it for large texture packs.

gfh110 thats the order I did it in anyway, seems ok.
