Starting Gear too Powerful?

I think you should not get any armour. Just a weapon of your choice.(Maybe Esbern gives you a weapon and you have to choose one?)
Related to starting gear. All armour and weapons should be a lot more expensive than they were in Oblivion.

That can be a doubled-edged sword though. If they cost more to buy, you'll also get more for them when you sell. Without a careful balance of the economics of the game, it could end up being much worse than Oblivion as far as being able to get filthy rich is concerned.

I would legitimately like to start off with a wooden practice-sword. Let's Zelda it up in here.
If the starting weapon isn't made of wood, I'm going to mod it to be.
As for armour, it should definitely be the very lowest of the low, but there should be a choice between light and heavy armour at some point in the tutorial level. It should still be "Cracked Leather Harness" and "Rusty Iron Dishwasher With Suspenders Attached", or some equivalent. I believe this was the case in Oblivion, so I have faith in Bethesda.

Which is why bandits and marauders etc should never get any good gear.
But yeah, need to be careful with this.

now that I have read this topic for a while I taught......maybe if you get absolutely nothing and not even easy starter quests or anything that would give you much money....like you have to work really hard at the beginning to get few coins for your sword etc. and after a while it gets easier since your stronger and have lots of good stuff, so when your lets say level 7 - 10 you really have the stuff and you can take on harder caves, quests etc.
