What is with Bethesda and awful movement?

It's like they haven't improved it all since morrowind. >_<
Hire some Kinesiologists already, people don't run full speed sideways and backwards for one.

The main thing I hoped for FONV to improve on was the awkward movement from FO3, I'll still enjoy exploring as in most Beth games, but this really ruins the combat.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMEBODY WHO THINKS LIKE I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been saying this for years! The movement is aweful.....i often wish that every single game had the movement of say the half-life based games. how smooth and fluid is the movment in half-life games compared to Bethesda games??? In Fallout the movment is very awkward its like your floating across the land rather than walking. And to be honest it's a tad too slow as well. they really need to tweak it!!!

I agree, I find FO3's and FO:NV's movement to be clunky, and very unnatural to coordinate indeed. But Morrowind is great and Oblivion to me. (Except crouching)

Yeah, Valve makes more PC friendly games than how Bethesda has become. This kind of movement feels alright on a console controller, but clunky on a more fluent and dynamic input device.

Haha, yea, it really hasn't changed since Morrowind. That's alright though, I play in first person so I don't notice. I guess it's just the game engine, I dunno. It does certainly feel more like skating than walking.

Limits of the game engine - I hated the movement in Oblivion, especially diagonal movement over rough terrain.

I tend to solely play in first person mode as a result, so I don't have to watch my character being clumsy.

Huh, I guess the big 'OBSIDIAN ENTERTAINMENT' logo when you first start Fallout:New Vegas was hard to miss.

I strongly disagree, this coming from a Drum Crops. percussionist.

Irrelevant. It's Bethesda's engine and every game Bethesda made has the terrible movement as well. The point is all these years later Bethesda still has an engine with, quite frankly, amateur movement.
