I don't really understand why these bugs even exist, I found most of them within the first hour of playing the game. Usually when a dev releases a new game with an engine they've used previously they improve upon things but in this case they've introduced bugs that didn't even exist in Fallout 3. Below are some annoying bugs I've found so far.

1) When healing yourself with items that heal less than a stimpak your health level doesn't update in the pipboy screen. You have to exit the pipboy screen and go back in to get your true health level, this is critical when you're in the middle of a battle.

2) When you level up you hear the level up sound but the screen to distribute skill points doesn't pop up for two to three minutes later.

3) The screen sometimes jumps and propels you forward when you're barely moving. I found this annoying when in small rooms trying to pick up things.

4) Enemies stuck in terrain where weapons do not effect them. This was a Fallout 3 issue as well but it seems much more prevalent in New Vegas.

Either Bethesda/Obsidian didn't bug test this game well or I'm the exception and am amazing at finding bugs, I strongly doubt the latter.

I have yet to have Number 1 do that to me...

Number 2 has happened i think 2 times and im 17 right now.

3 is annoying when trying to disarm trip wires and mines :P

Haven't seen number 4 yet but that sounds annoying.

Hopefully more patches come out fast to help fix this stuff, and hopefully it doesnt take forever for DLC. I find myself just wandering around looking for stuff just so i dont finish the game and end up bored out of my mind when the new DLC stuff comes out, and i rather do it on this guy cause hard core mode will be bare hands lol.

Here is some more info on the glitch that is corrupting game saves http://va1n.gamervoices.com/2010/10/20/fallout-new-vegas-who-left-all-these-bugs-here/

A lot of people are saying that the DLC issue doesn’t even have to do with the DLC. People who never installed the DLC from Gamestop are getting the error message that says “Can’t load DLC.” Something fishy is going on and people are getting ticked off because there really isn’t any news whatsoever.

What I would do is steer clear of the one quest called “Come Fly With Me.” That’s the quest everyone says they were on when it happened. If you don’t complete it, you’ll have a better chance of not getting the issue.

1) I think some of those items heal over time now, even when not in hardcoe mode. I think exiting the pip-boy lets some time pass and then it adds them. Probably a code tweak from adding hardcoe where things heal over time.

2) This could be due to having other enemies nearby or the system thinking that you're still in combat.

3) I haven't encountered this one.

4) I encountered this one once. The enemy was stuck and I was still marked as [Hidden] so I just walked away leaving the mother Coyote walking in a rock while her cub was dead in front of her.

Why are people always surprised in every game that there are bugs... is that ever a surprise?

Yeah it is a surprise. I've been PC gaming since the early 90's and yes there was a time when you could rest assured that the game would work out of the box. Yeah, there would always be a few minor bugs they would need to be patched but the game was still playable. The trend over the last 5 or so years has been to rush the game out unfinished and patch it later. This is [censored]!
2 days now and I can't even save the game. (hard saves don't work for me either). This is a [censored]in' joke!

Well alarm bells were ringing for me when I was watching the pre-release vids and their were bugs, the vids which were meant to ''show off'' the game. I hope its patched by tomorrow when I get to play it.

What part of the game did this start happening?

Or, they tested but released the game anyway (which is what i believe)

This is almost assuredly what happened. It can be really expensive for a publisher to push back a release date for a game, so a lot of the time the developers run out of time to finish fixing bugs and hit the "tag a codebase version for release" deadline with bugs still in the game. Larger developers that have pull with the publisher and companies that self-publish their games can just say, "we'll release it when it's done," but smaller developers are usually contractually obligated to release on the agreed-upon date. This is why so many games are released with bugs. It's not because they're not testing...it's because they ran out of time to fix everything before the game was released.

I wonder with all the bugs the game should be re-named fallout with new vegas?

I'm not particularly surprised, the only big one is save files being screwed over. that's a fairly nasty bug right there.

I wonder if the bugs can be removed for people downloading it by re-installing the game or something? (ie is it just the files being messed with by steam?)

I don't think so, that issue isn't related to steam, I know 3 people who have corrupted saves on the xbox
