Is anyone else really angry about obsidian making the same mistake as Bethesda in fallout 3. Like c'mon again with the no open ending. And on top of this xbox has exclusive dlc! I also accidentally saved over my game and cannot go back!!!!!!! and they better release dlc to fix it.... And till then... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not angry. Obsidian has a perfectly good reason for not letting the player continue playing after the main quest.

Besides, we have known for months about this...

There is nothing to "fix" it's working as intended.

To imply otherwise speaks to your ignorance of the series real origins (FO1 & 2, which were definitive endings).

Your actions in this story arc have a huge impact on the world, the ending details what happens to those you encountered on your journey and then the story is over. Yes, your character probably does other stuff, but THIS story is over.

Whining about it is foolish, you're warned in game and the developers announced months ago that it would be a final ending.

I'm sure they'll change it down the line, but I don't see any reason to.

The two things Bethesda learned from Fallout 3 and even publicly stated was that:

1) NEVER have a closed-ending in a game like Fallout.
2) DO NOT have a level cap in a game like Fallout.

Fallout 1 and 2 were [censored] and I didnt look up the news because i wanted to be surprised... and their reasons are terrible... they were just to lazy.... i would have easily waited a few more months to play a perfected game, not a glitched out piece of junk.... fallout 3 was my favorite game ever... it passed metroid on my top games list... but fallout 3 only did that when they released the dlc... for ps3... which took way too long and there doing it again!

Bethesda intended to close Fallout 3 for good, the issue was the community backlash, I can't speak for all of the DLCs but Broken Steel was purely fan service.

Of course not, its splendid IMO. It allows them complete freedom to imply whatever events they wish, and tie it all up nicely in the end ~and not have to double/triple/quadruple there dialog and scripting to account for for the changes. This improves the game tremendously IMO, and removes the need for complete timelessness in the quests and story arc.

*(that and its closer to the series that way )

Well one reason is you'd miss the rest of your ending if you didn't do all the side quests that contributed to it. They also didn't have time to make a post game world for each possible ending.

Indeed, and the game became worse because of it. If I play FO3 now, I play it without Broken Steel.

then they should' have waited until they perfected it... to follow up fallout 3 it has to be perfect... And they totally didnt do a good job on the ending... it should have been a cinematic cut-scene not a slide show...

And not very good fan service at that. Why? Nothing changed after the end. Don't get me wrong, I liked the added storyline, new weapons, and so forth...but it wasn't the sort of open-ending that folks really were wanting. Two weeks go by...and the Wasteland stays the same. Nothing you did changed things a single iota beyond those involved in the new quests.

Hmm. I didn't know this was linear. I have no idea what the main quest would be, except to keep wandering, make choices, open new areas, and move on. That should take a while. Maybe I'll consider opening all locations in the console later.

It still made it so that you dont feel like you just wasted all your time to not really be able to use your levels and perks.... I feel like in this one i got excited and wanted to rule Vegas and be like an unstoppable tank like i am in fallout 3 but no...... i dont get to own a super-Mutant with level 100 melee and 10 perks increasing my damage so that i hit him he explodes into a thousand pieces....

I don't know, I personally like not being a walking tank all the time. Having a challenge in every encounter makes the game interesting, makes me work for my meals rather than simply wading in and dealing out death without any real effort. That I have to work to get a hold of the real big guns, have to work to get at all the neat toys and perks, just seems better to me. When I finally get to the ending, I think I'll view it with the feeling of having worked for it, instead of simply having it handed to me.

AFAIK They really didn't have much say in how long they had to make it.

The game actually had a frame-rate melt-down and i tried to save so i wouldn't lose my work on the dam but in my attempt it picked up on my clicks of my x buttons (before my start menu popped up) while i was about to save and it saved over my original data before the dam.
