Connection to Facebook? : V - Skyrim

That is my guess. And no matter what it is I can't imagine it would have any effect on anyone who does not have a FB account or who does not use the function available. What it would do is increase awareness of the game and serve as some advertising for it.

Regardless, I don't see how it would have any effect on anyone who did not want it to.

So long as its not visible in the game, and doesn't nag you to create a Facebook account for the 'wonderful' extra features that you are missing out on.

What I reeellly hope it is not... is something that sends posts to all Facebook friends that you just did 'something' ~in the way that Steam lists achievements.

Thats a great way to make popularity bethesda, force your game onto peoples facebooks, and every time they kill an enemy display it. Or complete a quest, defeat a dragon, purchase or find an item.
TES has always been a game where friends influence eachother to play it more than commercials, now we can automatically annoy everyone on facebook by spamming them with Skyrim spam! Thats a great advertisemant tool!

Of course that was an overexaggeration, but when they say a connection to facebook, I ask why? Could it possibly provide anything other than annoyance?

Fortunately you can set anything like this to "ignore" or "disable" on FB so as not to be annoyed.

No, seriously, there's nothing to be afraid of. Have you ever been on FB ? (I don't like the majority of its functions, either, but I've created an account just to keep track of things going on in The Elder Council - really interesting (sometimes) !) Then you should know, that it's all optional and you can ignore / disable whatever you like at any time (and I'm sure Beth will make it optional in the game (but not in the game world !), anyway). So, where's the problem ?

The new Skyrim facebook app! Tend to your farms, chop wood, spend real money on fake in game content for a crappy app! Nope. I use facebook myself for connecting with old friends and family but it is cancerous. It is quite easy to lose friends over stupid crap or piss off family members who shouldn't know everything about your life. Mixing family and friends is never a good thing and nobody should be a part of your life as much as facebook forces. I hate social networking.. another excuse to not leave the house.

Hell no. My nerd life is made secret from my rising success. I already have an excuse to seclude myself in my house; I got the flu. I will even wear some halloween makeup to make me look sick incase some of them come visit. I won't have the success of my lies by in vain when someone in facebook sees "(Insert name) is currently is in Solitude".

Btw: have you seen the 2 new screens in the article ? Do you know a source where they're to be found on the internet ?

Actually there are 3 new screens. 2 are variations of screens we knew already.

- another group of Draugrs (this time ahead of some kind of burial chamber with a mummy lying in it)
- a variation of the Draugr Hero screen (this time with sword drawn)
- screen of a farmhouse on a mountain plateau

And no, I don't know any legal sources or I would have posted them already

ITT: Overreactions.

Yeh theyre TOTALLY going to force you to link your game to Facebook. Thats right, its also going to make a post every time you move or press a key. Its not going to just link achievements/trophies or anything reasonable like that, its not going to be optional either. Yep those few people who might actually enjoy seeing what their friends are doing in Skyrim or sharing what youre doing have completely ruined the game for everyone else by a definitely non-optional feature that you cant in any way ignore if you dont like it.

BETHESDA was / is asking there: "What's your favorite Elder Scrolls race ?"... and there are 1.666 comments to it ! - I mean this is quite a little different to those forum-polls here, don't you think ? (I don't know the intention behind this poll - at this specific time in regarding the development of Skyrim, but somehow it seems to be of some importance to them.) :hubbahubba:

I have now had the time to read the whole article.

According to this article playable Khajiit and Argonians are highly unlikely. We know better. So the Facebook information may be also false.

No, of course not. All races will be playable ! But that's not the point here (Bsds. It's stated nowhere that this poll will have any consequences for the current or future games; not even the intension of the poll is mentioned).
I just wanted to point out that it's maybe not the stupidest thing to check those sites on FB from time to time (there were other interesting postings, too, imo).

the only thing i've seen videogame related on facebook was when a friend got a trophy for red dead redemption.
