Improved item pick up

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2009 4:42 am

This is something incredibly minor but if your like me you dont want your house to be a hollow shack that is only used for sleeping, I want it to look nice, and I think I should be able to interact with it more. The most I could do in OB was place a dagger and a book in a display case. Plus, I pick up A LOT of books, and Itd be nice not to have to carry them around. In OB I just stuck them all in a barrel, along with my unused equipment. Thats no fun.

So anyways, would you like a more efficent item moving system?

Itd be simple, once you pick up something, anolog sticks can be used to move it around.

I think you should be able to do something along the lines of clicking on the book shelf, then adding stuff to the bookshelf's "inventory" then whatever you put in it(within a certain size) will appear set up on it, where you can then make minor adjustments.

How was this handled in FO3? I don't remember.

I was thinking this as well. The physics engine in Oblivion was unreliable at best so the most I could do to display books was to pile them up on tables.

It wasn't. You had to reeeeeally carefully move and position stuff in FO3. It was only marginally better than Oblivion.

Since no objects in Morrowind were affected by physics, it just dropped the item at the first flat surface in front of your mouse pointer. It was awesome.

It would be nice to have a system like that, To be able to have a rotation snap, Size grid, Whether you get to set it as physics, or normal, Big or small, I would like it, but it could take a bit too long with all the items in skyrim, And a lot of money, It is a good idea, and I would like to see this in Skyrim.

Yes. There has to be a better way to decorate and place items in your house. I thought it would be cool to place a scythe in the corner of my Bruma home, but I could never get it to stand up. Same with the goblin staff from the tutorial. Wanted to display it, but nothing worked so into the chest it went.

And it would have been nice to be able to place the items you bought for the houses like tables, chairs, artwork, etc...at least a little bit, but the physics were so screwy in OB it probably would have been more trouble than it was worth. Talk about a "bull in a china shop". I could see chairs flying everywhere when entering your house in OB if everything wasn't nailed to the floor.
