Hilarious NPC clipping, good or bad?

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2009 8:55 am

I am currently playing Fallout 3 over again and you know those cylindrical shelters where the doors slide open to the left? I came upon one that had a skeleton in it (which they always seem to have) and i used the grab key and moved the skeleton half way out of the shelter and closed the door. Oh the fun times I had, or maybe I am just easily entertained.. or sick. But the skeleton started flipping out because fallout has this sort of "ejection" system where if objects clip with terrain they wig out hilariously flippin', shakin, and wigglin'. It can give you LOL moments for sure but do you guys want those to stay so long as it doesn't mess with the gameplay (example of where it can effect gameplay: New Vegas)? Or would you rather it be completely fixed this time around? Feel free to discuss other bugs, features or mechanics that might start an interesting debate on whether you support it or not.

No clipping at all. "Hilarious clipping" can be fun at first, but then it just gets lame and sad and you think it svcks that it's not fixed. That's how I see it.

So, I don't want the ones you're talking about, and not the ones here (right arm clips with the vest): http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/Riverwood.jpg

What you described happens in a lot of games, and is usually accompanied by the noise of the objects going crazy to. Very annoying, I think. I hope they clean stuff like that up as much as possible.

Clipping as shown in the screenshot posted is something I'd rather not see, but if it's there and not too bad I can live with it. I always hated watching an npc or even my characters legs go through the bottom of armor when walking. I'd think this will still be in game because there is no physics to the clothing to let it move, and it's stiff and stationary.

I agree with you guys. While it can be funny it can be equally frustrating. More often than not it loses it's appeal fast and becomes irritating. :)

Euhrrr... clipping is the reason why I am unable to play Fallout on PS3. I got queasy. Luckily, PC's antialising solves it, more or less.
