Hell Motel

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2009 7:07 pm

ok i didnt think this belonged in the spoiler section so im putting it here.

I traveled straight north (maybe a tiny bit west) of the Mojave outpost and found what looked like a crater filled with green water. the place had rather high radiation and was filled to the brim with Glowing ones and Ghoul Reavers (while i was only level 8).

it looked intresting and i decided to fight my way through. at the end there was a little shack.

when i walked up to the door it said (enter Hell Motel) i was intrigued and decided to enter. when i did i was confronted by a (crazed Mr.Handy) after i destroyed it, i expected to find something creepy (judging by the name of the area)

but all that was there was a dead ghoul named (Dr.Rotson) a (DC journal of internal medicine) and junk items.

has any one else discovered this place? is it part of a quest? i looked on the Fallout Wiki but its not mentioned. who is doctor rotson? why the hell was the little shack named "Hell Motel"

is it a reference to the movie "Motel Hell"? i dont think so.

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

does anyone know.

ps. the area is unmarked.

I wondered too, on the wiki it just suggested a link to movie reference.

I just think it's a way too intergrate higher level foes into the game as a challange, as the area all around that road there has some very strong critters for a low level character.

Maybe something to add a little mystery for us that might appear in DLC or future installments.

my mom always used to talk about a movie that scared her away from those one story roadside motels.

the movie was called (Motel Hell) and it was about cannibalistic Motel owners. when people stayed at the motel they would kill them.

i might check his fridge for strange meats. if there their then the movie reference idea is probably right.

It really was a big letdown. It just seems like a spot where they wanted to put a Star Bottle Cap and be done with it.

Lol i too ran into this place during my random travels. When I got there I got assaulted by the rando frenzied Mr. Handy and saw the dead doctor on the floor. Found nothing interesting so for kicks I resurrected the Doctor using console commands. He came up from the dead with blood all over his body and face and casually walks over to the sofa and sits down. The guy has a typical ghoul voice and nothing interesting so I just killed him again with console commands :P

Maybe the point of it is that we the players will try to piece it together ourselves.

I don't particularly care to have every single backstory or detail revealed. Got to leave something to the imagination.

I imagine it was a link to cut content and quests. Such as Ulysses.

Agreed considering the nature of how the place was set up you would think it was created to be part of some quest about a crazy ghoul doctor.
So I too support Tale's claim that its probably cut content.

Did no-one else find the layout of the 'motel' to be very reminiscent of My Megaton House? I took it as a slightly snide dig at the previous game, though admittedly I'm not basing that on much. The dead doc was a bit of a mystery though.

It reminded me of Fallout 3 when you'd find something interesting and think "Ah, now what's this?!" expecting it to lead to something like a quest or something but it didn't so you just loot the place and leave.

By the way is it sad that reavers got nerfed?

Spare a thought for the poor nerfed reavers.

Man, I'm so glad Reavers got nerfed it's not even funny. Those things were obscene in 3. Though I would like to see a fight between some NV-style Deathclaws and some 3-style Reavers...

the fact that they were tough wasnt the problem.

they were tough, fast and in mass numbers.

hooray for nerf

seeing as the area around the place was covered with glowing ones and reavers i think that it isnt joyful to get to. maybe its called motel hell because its surounded by brain dead rotten zombies.

No. No it is not sad.

When I saw one in NV, I was around level 10, I think. I almost [censored] myself when I saw it. Then it turned out to be not so bad. I was expecting a fast death.

I'm very, very happy they got nerfed.

It is. I killed three of them easily on level 6. That location was quite dissapointing too, but you get used it in NV :D

Although Reavers are nerfed, Ghouls got buffed (I cannot recall ANY Ghoul dose more than few points of damage to me in FO3).

I do like Orange Reaver for a change.

And I don't think they throw radioactive daemon eyes that kills you within 2 hits either.
