It's a known glitch with the Q-35. Try highlighting it, switching to third-person mode, and moving the camera around slowly until you find the 'sweet spot' which will actually let you take it. I had to do this with the Lucky Shades in Fallout 3, too.

This happened to me too. Going into 3rd person mode and moving around, I couldn't find a spot to grab it. Too bad, the only energy weapon in the game I wanted to try. :(

Sometimes it gets behind the mannequin's hitbox and prevent you to grab it in 1st person.

Try playing with the 3rd person camera; sometimes you have to go behind the container and "submerge" the camera from there.

Dislodge it with a Pulse Grenade, it knocks out the shield and should shift the gun.

I had the same problem as yourself, I looted and ransacked the place: safes; terminals; locked doors; bodies; everything and it didn't do anything to the shield.

I have a sneaky suspicion that if the alarm goes off, it locks the shield.

I'm on PS3, so I can't do the console stuff, but what I did to dislodge the gun was to throw frag grenades at it. Then you have to kind of crouch down, and find a spot near the stasis field until you can get the "pick up" option. It's a bit tricky, but it works.

Everytime I go there I can just grab it easily probably because I do all the other floors before I go after that 100 skill door. I think a computer unlocks the weapons somewhere.

There's a very hard computer on the top floor (where the BoS patrol is). I couldn't use it my first playthrough though.

Im glad someone started this topic, I can never get that freaking gun.

So Im getting mixed info.

Some are saying hack the computer on the 3rd floor of repconn. I swear I did this on a previous character with no effect......I think it just shut down robo security.

Others say it is a glitch and to try to use and explosive to move the item to a more grab-able spot.

Which is it? The strat guide says nothing about the computer on the third floor.

As I've mentioned to other people on this very topic . . . this is the same problem that was encountered with the "Lucky Shades" in FO3. All I did to obtain the weapon you're after is enter 3rd person mode and crouch down close to the weapon. Picked it up no problem.

Need more info, try the wiki page: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Q-35_Matter_Modulator

Agree that the t erminal on the 3rd floor does not unlock the field. It allows you to shut down the robo security.

Thanks for the grenade ideas...will definitely give them a try!

Sweet, thanks. I'll give it another try this time around repconn.

I swear it is so annoying to see that gun right in front of you and not be able to grab it !

I hope that picky bastard Arcade will use the Q-38

After reading this thread yesterday I decided to get that gun.
When I entered the buildning, and that first robot came up to me, I talked to it, then I took half of the tour, the first robot came to me and said I should leave, but I took the tour for a bit longer, then I was going on my way out, but my time was out, so the first robot, with everybody else started shooting at me, with Sentries and everything :o
I just run away cuz I hate Sentry robot things, but Boone just smashed it with very few Machete swings, so I locked up the avarage door where the Fiends corpses are, walked on, to the very hard lock door, opened it, and a sentry thing came, Boone stormed in, took the Sentry out, and I walked over to that place where the gun is. "What the hell?" Thats what I said, cuz the gun, it wasnt there!! So then I remembered what many companions do at Vault 34, so I checked Boones inventory, and there is the gun, just like that! :celebration:
Bring Boone to Repconn if you want the gun without do lots of other stuffs to get it :D You could problary use some other companions who usally pick weapons up that your are looking for but suddently they arent there.

Okay, so I think we're talking about the Q-38...so, when I got it I didn't know it was there and just stumbled upon it, I didn't have to hack any terminals or anything, i just grabbed it. Maybe it had to do with me telling the robots that I'm a member of the company..

And also, if you use a grenade to dislodge it, make sure it doesn't fly and get stuck somewhere where you can't get it, cause that sounds like something that would happen on Fallout.

Just wondering, do you need a hacking or lockpicking skill to get the gun? Or is there a way to get to the room without hacking or lockpicking and getting the gun?

No I am afraid either way you are going to need hacking or lockpick.. also perhaps I noticed there are a few Hidden panels that you can jimmy if you have a fair mechanical skill.. I always thought that this was part of it as I did indeed and had no problem picking it up. The first is on the 1st foor on the wall right behind the desk ( far left wall as you enter) in the robo recharge room. the second i think was on the thrid floor

You will need to lockpick, but there's a way into the room with the gun where you only have pick a lock that's marked "hard" (on the second floor, I believe). There are vids on You Tube about it. The door and terminal on the ground floor are "very hard" requiring 100 skill in either lockpick or science to pick/hack.

To all with the 3rd person suggestions, thanks. I tried that again last night and it worked. I croutched in 3rd person on the left side of the force firled tube, then held L2 (on PS3) to be able to move the camera only. Moving to the right just so, I was able to pick it up. Thanks again!
