Other ways to enter the Strip?

Post » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:30 pm

Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any other ways to gain entry into the Strip other than going through Freeside. I ask this because for some reason every time I try to enter the strip on my hardcoe character the screen goes black and nothing happens. Its soo annoying because it works with my other character. Im hoping that if there is a different way to enter the strip it might load up for me.

Thanks

Get an NCR uniform and take the monorail from Camp McCarren.

You can:

1.) Pay 2,000 caps to the gate keeper in Freeside.
2.) Complete the "G.I. Blues" quest by talking to the King and ask him for a favor, ask for a way to get into Freeside, go to Mick & Ralph's, talk to one of the two, and get a counterfit passport.
3.) Have a science skill of 80 to trick the gate keeper into thinking you've already payed for a passport.
4.) Go through Camp McCaran with a disguise and get on the monorail.

There aren't any other ways to get in the Strip without going through Freeside that I know of, but I'm sure someone else knows.

You DO NOT pay the gatekeeper.... It is simply a credit check... Try it.... With 2000 or more caps you are granted entry into the Strip.... None are taken from you till you start losing them at the tables though.

Don't do it this way.
Whenever you enter Freeside, you can go straight to Mick&Ralphs, do the conversation and get the counterfeit pass for 500 caps; IIRC with a speech check even cheaper.
Save the King's favour for later, you will need it, when you do quests for a certain faction.

OOOHHH My god, you don't know how much this helped. I had the same glitch and I WAS NOT able to get into The Strip, I am most definately using the monorail.

Oh, and i will not allow the monorail to blow up. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do the Quest and not let it blow up? Cause that happened to me on my previous playthrough and it was really annoying, but I thought I couldn't do anything about it.

I've heard that when you get that quest, after you've killed the spy go directly to the monorail and don't talk to the officer first or the quest fails. I dunno, I've never been able to complete it either.

Wiki recommends using Turbo after you get the quest update spying on the spy and running to the monorail.
Worked like a charm for me.

Turbo's effects are wierd. It reminds me of the time dilation I have seen in some real world fights when I was a kid.

Sorry to add to the hijack: I got to the monorail in plenty of time by going directly there from the control tower without using Turbo. There is a discussion http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143363-the-monorail/ regarding that quest.
