On Black Mountain there's 4 switches that change the alignment of the dishes on the mountain. Does anyone know if these do anything or serve any purpose because i haven't seen it change anything.

On a side note i love Black Mountain. After using the Ham radio to cause the super mutants and nightkin to fight each other it has become a cheap source of mini guns, super sledges, and incinerators. I find it odd that Tabitha didn't make them stop when she left but w/e.

I think it turns off the radio signal? Not 100% sure, as I adjusted this after repairing Rhonda and getting Best Friend Tabitha to leave Black Mountain, which could have itself been what turned off the radio signal.

I adjusted them and it didn't seem to do anything at all.

There is a quest for the BoS that has you going back up there.
But (come to think of it) they didn't ask for any dish re-aiming...
So I think if you re-aim the dishes, it can knock Black Mountain Radio off the airways.
But I dunno - I repaired the little robot, and Tabitha was so happy with me and life in general, heheh...
Maybe if you mess up the dishes, they all run outside and they're pissed off with you?
Or it could be just an interesting little dead-end distraction.

Raul mentions in his diary on one of computers that moving the switches will knock the radio off of the air. This is probably meant as one means to draw Tabitha out of her studio.

Do SMs and Nightkin respawn on Black Mountain? I just finished the quests up there, got Tabitha to leave with her robot, etc. Thought I killed em all.

Yes, they respawn but are not hostile if you chose a peaceful solution to the problem.

[wisecrack] FO3/NV radio behaves more like terrestrial (AM/FM) radio, therefore, technically moving the satellite dishes shouldn't knock of the radio signals. [/wisecrack]
