i just tried to get an assault carbine fixed as i cant find any weapon repair kits and the cheeky turd wanted 7k caps bloody [censored]

If I remember right, it's roughly 2x or 1.5x the difference in the price of the weapon - in other words, that assault carbine, when fully repaired, would cost you around 4500+ more caps if you were to buy it from that trader.

Items are a lot more expensive in this game than in F3, especially when at full condition.

Is the gun modifed in any way?

Seriously, if money is an issue - learn to play Caravan.

I looked through the game manual for what the joker and face cards' effects are, played against Lacey at the NCR Outpost in the south and more than quadrupled my money within an hour.

About 7,000 caps to 30,000+. Easy as pie.

Just collect a bunch of the same weapon and repair one of them and sell it to the Gun Runners

Vangraff's armour is about 3.6k caps.

Weapon repair kits aren't too hard to make either..

Weapon repair kits are easy to make at a workbench. You can buy or scrounge the needed parts cheaply and keep your weapons in top shape.

You will need: 1 duct tape, 1 scrap electronics, 3 scrap metal, 2 Wonder glue, and 2 wrenches.

Combat Armor.
8000 caps.
