Will skyrim's NPC's lives match up?

I just happened across http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-gameplay-the-witcher/713622 and was pretty impressed. It got me thinking, this is the same exact kind of thing that Bethesda was showing off and bragging about, but will Skyrims NPC lives be as in depth and have as much variety? Variety as in jobs and animations, and how many different thing each one will be doing on its own like taking breaks to smoke for example like the video showed.

So what do you all think, can Bethesda learn something from this or do you think that SR's system will be complicated enough with a good variety as it is.

That looked very much like how Todd explained it to be in Skyrim. (The cooks actually cook, the leatherworkers actually tan leather, ect.) Now, I dont know if we will see as much detail as that elf talking about shoes, and you could go into her house and see the proof. But in the very least it seems the jobs animations and dialoge will be improved.

The Witcher 2 certainly looks impressive.

I think that Skyrim's NPCs will hold their own, although whether they will be as impressive or more so is yet to be seen. It's not just about having dynamic daily schedules. The Witcher 2's dialogue looks to be very well written, and that in particular I'm doubtful about Bethesda matching.

Still, Skyrim will undoubtedly have a much broader scope with more total NPCs and locations, so as cool as that would be, I doubt it'll bother me if we don't see some of those more complex behaviors (like groups of villagers heading out to pick berries together).

The animations seem exaggerated and overall look unrealistic.

Im hoping most of the Bethesda dev team are big enough RPG players to pick up and play Witcher 2 this month. Its a chance to see how some similar features play out and maybe spark a few ideas.

Of course I also think the Bioware dev team who made Dragon Age 2 should be forced to play Witcher 2 as well.

I take it you don't follow the Bethesda Blog. Matt is always posting "What we're playing" articles. Bethesda, games for gamers by gamers.

Not really... At least werent things like Lycanthrope and Spellcrafting still in the "maybe if we can implement it properly" in the major category? I just meant mostly like AI routines, or how many NPCs in an area like a tavern looks and feels good, or maybe even some graphical settings. Stuff like that, tweaks.

These things could already be above and beyond Witcher 2. We haven't seen nearly enough of Skyrim yet. We need to see non trailer gameplay first.
