Really Obsidian?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2010 2:06 pm

I love this game and have praised it when others have trashed it. I have already spent a tremendous amount of time playing and wandering. But the one thing that really, really drives me nuts is all the invisible walls! The one thing I loved about Bethesda games was that they were truly open-world games. You could go anywhere, climb any mountain, etc. In Fallout: New Vegas this is totally gimped. Especially around the Hoover Dam area. Totally ridiculous. Places that would be easy to climb do not allow you to. You can't even get into the water by the dam. And on the other side you can't get into the lake. Craziness! Anyway, I know this has been posted before but for us XBOX/Playstation users, we're kind of screwed. No mods to fix this problem. I'll live with it, but I sure wish Obsidian made a truly open-world.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they will release a patch to fix this. I haven't touched the game in over two days because I think back to the pointless invisible walls along the Colorado River. I say pointless because I can "kinda" understand the invisible walls around the dam. But not the invisible walls that keep you from climbing a small hill. It was pointlessly, needlessly, awful.

They stated they did it because such areas were difficult to navmesh. I doubt a patch will come out that removes them.

I agree, but it is certainly a sign that obsidian had their hands on this game. Invisible walls.....what has the world come to? There were none, NONE, in fallout 3, or oblivion, besides the ones that prevented you from getting out of the map. I was so frustrate dwhen trying to get inside of the quarry next to sload that I nearly just stopped. I love this game, and it won't stop me from playing, but it would be so much better if they would patch and fix.

I've gotten in the water by the dam there should be a open fence on the left side of it.

Yes, Fallout 3 had them. Just not nearly as prevalent as in New Vegas. I've ran across them many, many times already and it's quite an aggravation. But I think in the instances in which I ran across them it's them basically not wanting me to take that particular route that I had envisioned.

Obviously, they won't.
