2-Handed Bow?

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2010 5:25 pm

so Yeah, I understand Its impossible to have 2 weapons out while using a Bow and Arrow, but Say you had a spell attached to your one hand and the other a bow, do you think that it is a good idea for the arrow to shoot with the spell you had attached to your one hand? For example, you have a fire spell in one hand and then you start to aim at a dude with your bow, when you shoot the arrow, the arrow tip is on fire and it will do fire damage to the enemy. Do you think this is a good idea? Also how should it work? Like should it be a perk? Or should you have to be a certain level in Archery and or Magic? Tell me what you guys think.

Its a shame, its a good idea but its too late to implement it in the game. Bethesda havn't mentioned it so chances are it wont happen :[
I'd like it to be a high level magic perk.

Makes sense, but you can't block with a spell and a sword so i doubt that'll happen

I like the idea, doubt it will be in the game but if it was I would like to see it be possible once your character reached a high enough archery/magic level.

That's what enchanted arrows (and enchanted bows) are for.

1. We don't know if arrows are enchantable.
2. Enchantments can only go so far. An archer mage would be could and allows more flexable on the go arrow buffs and could allow greater power but draws charge from your magicka. It restores itself

1.) There are going to be enchanted weapons in Skyrim. So I'm pretty sure that there will be enchanted bows/arrows.
2.) Yes . . . limits are what keeps things balanced.

They are making arrows do more damage - probably in order to balance Archery with the dual-wielding system. So, with enchanted bow and arrows, this won't be an issue. Or that is my guess.

If that was in it would probably remove the zoom-in function for the bow and arrow... (while using a magic ability in your second hand that is...)

That would be really unbalanced, considering how powerful bows are already.

I highly doubt that.

It will be magical weapons, I also guess it will be magical arrows, however magical arrows was rare in Oblivion, I guess Skyrim is based more of reuse of arrows making them even rarer.
However I don't think this will be in even if the idea is interesting, it will not fit with the rest of the system as you cast a singe use enchantment on your weapon.

Another options had been if you could cast magic with left hand while the right hold the bow, makes sense as the hand is free. In game this depend on how bows are organized, if your right hand hold the bow and the left the arrows you could switch but you would probably not earn much on this.

Anyway a good idea for moders :)

I still have my doubts about that info, it did come from a translated magazine.

Pretty much sums up my feelings exactly. As I understand the new system, no hand free = no spellcasting since you can't equip a spell to that hand. So use the re-implemented Enchanting skill for all your flaming/frozen/shocking arrow needs.

Doesn't really make sense to me - enchanting the arrow is IMHO better - bbut that's just my opinion.

Well, Todd hasn't given us anything in terms of information really. We just know the basic stuff, I think that's the kind of info they would try to keep under wraps.

Someone posted this idea before- I liked it then & I still like it.
If two staves can be used at the same time (which imo is godawfully ridiculous), then this should definitely be pursued & implemented, either before release or as free dlc. They really should have done this before the foolery of dualstaves

The same idea could be used for swords, axes e.t.c, not just arrows. If I have a sword in one hand and a fire spell in the other, I could channel the fire into the sword.

A bow will require both hands. One for holding the bow, the other for pulling back and releasing arrows.
