Turpentine locations

Anywhere really but I'm specifically hoping for something near the beginning to make money early, but like I said anyone and anywhere would be appreciated. Thank you.

If I remember correctly, there is a pretty big stash in the basemant at REPCONN Test Site, mixed in with all the other assorted junk between the storerooms and the room behind Davison.

Thanks for the tip. I'm trying to get armed up before I start meeting legion. Between the powder gangers, the scorpions, the coyotes, and the geckos I'm making some money, but not enough fast enough.

My weapons loadout so far is:
one tire iron
one 9 iron
one 9mm SMG in poor condition
one varmint rifle with scope
one silenced .22 pistol in poor condition
a .357 and .44 magnum, both in poor condition
and two 9mm pistols, both above 95% condition, one with scope and one without

I need the money to repair them and buy ammo.

Hmm, if you only want them as something to sell, I would suggest stocking up on sensor modules and pawning those off instead. Turpentine becomes extremely useful later in the game in high quantities for making Turbo, after you get the recipe from completing a couple quests. The only reason to keep sensor modules is 2 for a NCR unmarked quest and for if you plan to make some of your own explosives. Sensor modules weigh the same as turpentine and sell for 3x as much - they can also be found in similar locations.

I'm actually looking for them to tan gecko skins. I've got a ton of the white plant I need, and skins aplenty, but no turpintine.

Ahh, then yes REPCONN Test Site will probably be your best bet closer to early game. I think there were a half dozen or so at Gibson Scrap Yard as well.

If you're looking to repairing your weapons on particular, I just LOVE the weapons repair kits you can make. So while you're hunting down turpentine, definitely pick up all the scrap metal/electronics, duct tape, etc that you find :) Saves a lot of caps when repairing your guns.

Making caps???

Nothing beats Luck 10 and a Blackjack table.

Too bad you're at the beginning of the game.

Luck 10 is alright, but I prefer to put all my starting SPECIAL points into Intelligence to get my skills up since I'm an all arounder.

I find them all over the place - in abandonded homes, random containers, shelves, and so on - but they're far from my primary source of income. Repairing weapons and selling those (especially with the Jury Rigging perk) makes money several orders of magnitude faster.

From the unofficial wiki:
Locations in New Vegas
Brewer's Beer Bootlegging - 1 can be found in the cellar, in an average locked explosives crate.
Lucky Jim Mine - 3 bottles can be found just left on the shelf after you entered the shack.
Cerulean Robotics - 1 can be found in the second room near the doors in between 2 metal box

And as I said before, they're pretty much everywhere else between other clutter.

you want money, well sell books and bottles. as far as i know there are no use for destroyed books, not sure about prewar books. and empty bottles. there is some use for certain bottles but shouldn't be a problem for early in the game. it doesn't seem like much but you can get a few hundred caps. and that does help in the beginning of the game. there are some use for bent cans and tin cans.
