Doing BoS quests before main quest.

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:02 am

Salutations.

I was thinking of going to the BoS bunker for EDE's and Victoria's quests, but I know that later on in the main quest (doing an NCR playthrough) you have to go and find them and you can ally with them.

My question is: what happens if you do the BoS quests and become a member (or some such) before the main quest takes you there? When you get the quest to eliminate/get their support can you just go to the bunker and ask for their help right away, or does doing their quests beforehand break that option?

I hope this makes sense. :)

Thank you.

Doing the quests for the Brotherhood before doing any NCR quests is probably the best option as you can make the treaty with them as soon as you get the quest to take care of the Brotherhood.

I did it this way and was glad I did. I was horrified when the NCR asked me to decimate a mini-faction that offered me honorary membership, and relieved when I showed up and was able to settle things peaceably.

yes you can do the Brotherhood quests before the main quest. just DO NOT side with head Paladin Hardin in the side quest "Still In The Dark" because if you do, Hardin will not support the NCR because he hates them. you must side with elder Mcnamara. he would be willing to work out a truce with the NCR. Hardin will not.

As long as you kept McNamara as Elder and have completed "Eyesight for the Blind" you'll be able to get the treaty.

On my second playthrough and I stopped into Hidden Valley last night. Haven't been to Vegas yet. Can't quite remember if I needed to lockpick the bunker's inner door to access the BOS in my last playthrough. So my question is: how exactly do you access the BOS before you get to Vegas. Lockpick?

I'd recommend against it simply to wait for the Boomer quest from someone.

Get the password from one of the BoS patrol bodies in either Scorpion Gulch; REPCONN HQ or the Artillery-bombed part of Boomer area. Use the password on the intercom available.

I lockpicked and I used the password.

However, the best and most preferential way: Take Veronica, who is a member of the BoS, with you. I much prefer this way. You get great conversation lines after entering the bunker with Veronica.

Watch what happens to you if you don't take Veronica from a saved game.

Or bring Veronica.

does anyone know of a way that you can use the console to un-do quests that you've done? My problem is I did the BoS quests before I did the main NCR quest and I decided to side with Hardin (which was a bad choice given I don't want to destroy them) and if I can I'd rather undo it than have to go through and play the entire game again or just blow them up.

Thanks! Got the ED-E quest to head to REPCOMM HQ to meet with BOS last night. Probably get the password then, huh?

Oh, thanks for the other tips folks! I think I might have permanently closed off Veronica as a companion with this character when I told her that if she knew where the BOS was hiding she should turn them in to the NCR. :whistling:
