Monster Spawning

Why do Giant Radscorpions spawn in Goodsprings? I just started playing FNV and after waking up on the second night in Goodsprings just after getting done with the tutorial I was going to the Prospector and a Giant Radscorpion and Radscorpion came and attacked me just as I was coming to the Prospector. Luckily I was playing on very easy but I still almost died while backing away and shooting at their legs while downing stimpacks. If I had been on a hire difficulty I probably would have died really quickly.

Yea there seems to be one spawned around there somewhere. I know it killed me when I first started the game also.

There's a few near the Yangtze memorial... there's also a Deathclaw nest in the area.

That's why NPCs tell you to stick to the highways, which the NCR keeps safe. There's less leveled stuff if you head out into dangerous areas, which keeps them dangerous. :)

The problem is this is right in the middle of Goodsprings (the town you start in) just after getting done with the tutorial. I was just going to go sell a few things and go to the schoolhouse to clear it out. Besides the Geckos I killed during the tutorial the only thing I had fought so far was a Mantis which was easy.

Had that happen to me, thing appeared out of nowhere while I was exploring the town. I hid in a building, came out to find a dead resident (not a named one) and emptied 5.56mm rounds from my Varmint rifle into the thing while constantly backing off before it died. Kind of reminded me of FO2 when the things were a bear to kill at low levels.

Good thing was that after that incident, I tricked out a .357 Magnum and when I encountered another one near the Yangtze Memorial, it only took about 3 shots to kill.

This was literally the best part of the game I've experienced so far. That 30 second fight was more challenging, more fun than anything I've experienced in the last ten hours.

I like the game, but come on, if you're a competent player the combat is downright boring...
