Race-specific armour

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:49 pm

Basically, I was just thinking about the inclusion of race-specific armour and clothing. Even if not for every race, perhaps divide it up into rough sizes. For example: Nords and Redguards can wear the same armour as the size difference between the two races isn't that considerable. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be annoying or would it add depth to the role-playing aspect of the game?

Too gimmicky, though admittedly an Argonian shouldn't be able to wear the boots he picked up from a dead Redguard.

I like it. I don't want an Orc to be wearing small-framed Elven armor, or to see a beast-race wearing boots.

I want my argonians to be more beast-like so i dont want them wearing boots. I wouldnt say put in race-specific armor per-se, but i want limitations.

I like it and I don't. On the one hand, it puts arguably unnecessary constraints on races... On the other, it just adds more significance to your choice of race.

On the balance of it, I'd vote in favour :)

I think they should have a race-specific armour because as th3undon3on3 said, it adds more significance than the usual bonuses for skills.

Maybe even make them more lore-ish, like a Khajiit armour more Khajiiti or an Imperial Armour etc.

As long as my Breton can wear Light Armor I wouldn't mind having Race Specific Armor. Not to say anything bad to the Argonian Players but I don't see how they can wear Leather Boots the way their feet are shaped.

I Thought they nailed it in Morrowind personally. No boots or gloves on beast races, but beast races were strong to compensate for it. Plus the insane amount of customizability that results from two seporate gloves/pauldrens/boots +clothes under armor and robes over armor really made things interesting. Oblivion's gear just didn't work for me =/

Maybe argonian's boots need to be custom made by a leather worker/blacksmith or something. Just bring in the raw materials and he will custom make it for you. Note for this to work we need to have raw materials.

The only thing relating to race and armor that should be done is Beast Races not being able to wear boots or full helms.

I think Argonians not being able to use regular boots would be fine, but having whole sets of armor being limited would be too restrictive IMO. Maybe it could be like, anyone can wear the armor, but someone using a suit designed for their size would get a higher defense bonus?
