"Random" events you'd like to see

Post » Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:57 pm

There was a similar topic about this a little while ago, but it died a slow death (and was slightly different) and I thought I'd revive it in a slightly different way. I'm wondering what sort of random events people would like to see? When I say random I mean they'd be the Fallout style ones that are scripted, but happen at random times.

I personally would LOVE to see a group of bandits (or the skyrim equivalent of the mythic dawn, the "Evil" humanoid element) raiding a town and watching a skirmish break out between guards and evildoers, all the while townsfolk either flee into their homes and hide, or grab bows and snipe at the bad guys from the second floor of buildings and such. Any others you'd like to see? And M'aiq the Liar doesn't count, he has his own thread :P

"1,2,5" "3, Sir" "3"

Anyway, I'll put what I put in the other thread. Random brawls in mead halls. That could be freaking epic. Fight just breaks out and bodies start flying everywhere. Just stand back, drink some mead, and watch the fisticuffs.

Some asking you to inspect a small hamlet and then when getting there, only finding blood tracies and a couple of dead bodies. The doors are open to the few huts and its completely deserted...

You will find a charred corpse on the ground, holding a slightly burnt scroll. When you use the scroll it will launch you into the sky, straight into the mouth of a passing dragon no matter what your relative location is.

Instead of bringing it back to me, that kid starts to play knights and bandits with fellow kids
While others use sticks he actually wield my daedric fire sword I dropped
That kid don't understand the danger, but some local advlts notices it and tries to take it away
Kid don't want to part with a new toy so he starts waving it around killing most of advlts that goes near him
Meanwhile I simply sit on the bench and enjoy the view :whistling:

If giants aren't bad guys maybe you find one being attacked by a bunch of minotars and have to save it.

You hear a bang and scream coming from a house. You rush in and sees a dead body lying on the floor. you look down between your boots, woo and behold, there lies one single nine millimeter casing.

Are they doing random events in the game then? Like those we have seen in Red Dead Redemption?

I really like that 9MM one :P . Personally a lot of the ones I want to see are combat oriented, simply because NV left me wanting in that regard. I mean honestly, theres a freaking war going on and I cant see ONE Caesar's Legion vs NCR Battle?! Isn't there supposed to be a civil war going on in Skyrim? If so I'd be cool to see a column of soldiers being ambushed by the opposing side, or just coming across a group of dead soldiers in the woods with evidence of a certain type of beast/people being responsible.

Getting knocked out, and dropped in an allyway. Just, for no reason. They dont even take anything. You just wake up in an ally.

I think the random encounter system in Fallout 3 gave the game so much life, and they will definitly have this in Skyrim!

A half naked elf nearly freezing/starving to death in the snowy mountains. He says a group of nords jumped him, robbed him, and left him to die. He begs for your help. You have three options:

1). Leave him to his fate and continue on.
2). Offer him some food you have in your pack (not available if you don't have any) and go on your way.
3). Offer to escort him back to nearby town/city.

If you pick the first option (or just murder him outright) you'll find his grieving widow back in town. If you pick the second, he'll make it back but will still be bad off and recovering in a bed at the inn. His wife will thank you but nothing else. If you pick the third option and get him back safely, his wife will greet you at the entrance and lavish praise. Both he and his wife will get a massive disposition shift to you. Maybe gives the player some gold or item in thanks.

Possibly followed up with a Radiant Story quest if there is no immediate reward.
