Well I decided to wait for the patch, but I will make carefull note of all advice.
BTW I wiil probably bring a gun or a leadpipe since it seems like even if I am untrained I still do more damage then the damn laserpistol! :prod:

That's pretty why people think EW svcks.

This doesn't change until you get Gauss, which is much lighter than AMR and does about the same damage with normal MF cells.

I love all these suggestions to minmax for EWs and beeline straight towards the Uniques...

Do you have to do this to keep up to snuff with Guns?

More or less, unless the upcoming patch put an Recharger pistol in Mitchel's house instead of Laser Pistol and buff them like:
Laser Pistol roughly on level with 10mm
Plasma Pistol between .357 and .44
Plasma Defender roughly as powerful as 12.7mm Pistol

Until the promised nerfing of Sniper Rifle/Gobi occurs in the next patch......your search for a weapon that would serve you well to all the way to the endgame is over once you find a sniper rifle, which you can acquire as soon as you can get to Camp McCarran.

I play on Very Hard. I used the multiplas and eventually stopped using the Q-35 (whatever its called) my first time through because I needed lots of shots to crit. Did not find the pew-pew and did Helios wrong for Euclid. The gauss is nice for long range, multiplas for everything else. The plasma caster didn't seem as good as the multiplas, or maybe I couldn't tolerate the weight.

It's so relieving that EW characters have to be smart in this game. In Fallout 3 it was more or less "Oooh, a plasma rifle! I get to be God now!"

I don't think Euclid's C-finder counts as an energy weapon because your skill level, no matter how high, can't improve "Ultimate space laser death-ray that kills anything it touches"
