How do you get npc?s to use training equipment ?

Post » Sun Feb 28, 2010 2:17 pm

Can anyone please tell me what I need to place in the construction set (if I do need to place anything) to get my companions that I leave at my house to use the chain dolls and to spar with each other (if they can >_<).
When I went to some of the fighter?s guilds to see what was in front of the chain doll?s and those sparring mats there were a few XMarkerHeadings so I would assume I need those.

Thanks for any help

You need an xmarker heading and AI packages that sends them to those marks to use them; to spar with each other the two participants need a special combat type as well, like the Blades at Cloud Ruler. It's fairly easy to figure out, just look at the NPC Blades and make your NPCs and AI packages the same way except directing them to your xmarkerheadings.

You need those Xmarkerheadings placed close to the doll. When you place them both, give them a unique ID name ending in REF, i.e. MyTrainingRoomREF. The Doll needs to have persistant reference on.

Then you need a AI package set to type USE ITEM AT. Depending on what you want to do with your NPC, you can script the character to use the package or make it part of the daily routine.

Set the Schedule panel as you see fit, I have set no flags but you can experiment. Set the conditions tab if need be.

In the locations tab, fill out the Near location section. The Cell is where the chain doll is, the reference is the Xmarkerheading. In the target tab, under Any object select Weapon: melee.

Depending on what you want to do with your NPC, you can script the character to use the package or make it part of the daily routine. To make it a daily routine with little or no scripting, drag it to the NPC's AI window. If there are other AI packages there, make sure they run from top to bottom as time setting increase.

Not sure how sparring is done though. Look as the sparring couple in the IC Arena.
